The wider setting is real: Egan and Igando are genuine neighbourhoods in the Alimosho area of Lagos, and Igando hosts several known congregations, including Catholic and Anglican ones such as St. John, Igando. The area falls within the Anglican Diocese of Lagos West, a Church of Nigeria diocese of about 275 parishes across 30 archdeaconries, and a widely circulated parish list for that diocese mentions churches at Igando Layout, Igando Road and nearby Akesan, but no St. Luke's at Egan.
