What we found
We searched for The Salvation Army in Kakamega and found a large, long-established presence there. The denomination's own site lists the Kenya West Territorial Headquarters on the Kakamega-Kisumu road, P.O. Box 660, 50100 Kakamega, with phone +254 (020) 2493210, and a divisional register naming Kakamega South Division at PO Box 1888, Kakamega (salvationarmy.org). An independent Salvation Army magazine article describes the Kakamega Corps and territorial headquarters in the town running the "Martha's Closet" outreach for street boys (caringmagazine.org), and a local Facebook page, "Kakamega Citadel," shows about 6,421 likes and a Kakamega contact number. We found no scam reports, complaints or warnings about this church. One caution: the contact email given is a private Gmail address, not an official denominational address, so we could not tie it to a named officer.
