We searched for the National Independent Church of Africa (NICA) in Nairobi and found it is a long-established Kenyan denomination, founded by Africans during the independence struggle and registered in 1963, with congregations across Nairobi, Kiambu, Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kirinyaga and Isiolo counties (Kenya Methodist University research repository), and it originally broke away from the Africa Independent Pentecostal Church (Dictionary of African Christian Biography). It is listed as a member church of the National Council of Churches of Kenya and of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (oikoumene.org, the World Council of Churches site), and it filed a public commitment at the 2019 Nairobi ICPD25 Summit (nairobisummiticpd.org). The church runs its own cathedral channel describing dioceses across Kenya (YouTube), and a Nairobi address off Icipe Road appears in a map-style listing (Trip.com).
