Revelation 19:21

The Explanation

Close your eyes for a moment. Imagine a huge field. Dark clouds above, thunder rumbling. On one side stands a scary army. Terrifying soldiers, wild kings, roaring beasts. They want to fight against God. They think they can win.

And then the sky opens. A rider comes out on a white horse. His eyes shine like fire. On his head are many crowns. On his clothes is written: KING OF KINGS. Do you know who that is? Yes, that is Jesus.

Behind Him rides a whole army from heaven. All on white horses, in bright white clothes. But look carefully at Jesus. He has no sword in His hand. His sword comes out of His mouth. That is strange, right?

That sword is His word. Jesus only needs to speak, and it happens.

The enemy army rushes forward. But it is over before it begins. The leader of the beast is caught. His helper too. And then verse 21 says: "The rest were killed with the sword of him who sat on the horse, the sword which came out of his mouth."

Jesus speaks. And all evil falls down. Not one enemy is left standing. The battle is finished. God has won.

What Does This Mean?

This story sounds fierce. And it is. But there is something wonderful in it.

Jesus does not need a real sword. He does not need a huge weapon. He does not even need to fight for a long time. He only speaks, and the evil is gone.

Do you remember how God made the world? He spoke. "Let there be light." And there was light. His word is that strong.

And now, at the end, Jesus does the same. He speaks, and everything bad, everything mean, everything that hurts people, disappears. Every bully, every lie, every war. Gone. Because Jesus said so.

That means: God is stronger than everything. Nothing can stand against Him. Nothing.

The Common Thread

Do you know what is beautiful? The Bible begins with God speaking. And the Bible almost ends with Jesus speaking. His word makes things, and His word also cleans things up.

Jesus is called "The Word of God" in this chapter. He is God's speaking come alive. When Jesus was on earth, He said to a storm: "Be still." And the storm stopped. He said to a sick girl: "Get up." And she got up. He said to a grave: "Come out." And His friend Lazarus came out alive.

Now, at the very end, He speaks one more time. And all evil is finished forever. That is the same Jesus. That same voice.

And do you know what comes after this battle? A wedding. A big feast. Everyone who belongs to Jesus is invited. No more crying, no more fear, no more mean people. Just joy.

For You

Sometimes you can feel small. When someone in your class is mean. When something scary happens in the world. When you lie in bed and worry.

Remember the rider on the white horse. He is your King. He is stronger than everything you are scared of. He only needs to say a word.

You do not have to fight all the bad stuff yourself. You do not have to be big and tough. You may hide behind Jesus. Like a small child behind a strong dad.

And you can do this: when you feel scared this week, whisper "Jesus is King." Just those three words. Because that is true. He really is.

Praying Together

Lord Jesus, You are the King of Kings. Your word is stronger than everything. Thank You that we do not have to be scared. Please help us to trust You when things feel big or scary. We love You. Amen.
