1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser, so the site can remember something between pages or visits. Similar techniques such as local storage, pixels and beacons fall under the same rules; in this policy the word cookies covers all of them. Cookies set by us are first party cookies; cookies set by other companies through our pages are third party cookies.

2. Which cookies we use

Functional (always active)

These are needed for the site to work and require no consent: caching and performance cookies from our hosting stack, security cookies, your own cookie choice, and preferences such as your reading level or the adults or kids mode. They store no identifying data.

Analytics (only with consent where required)

We use Google Analytics to understand how the platform is used: how many studies are started, which pages are read, from which countries visitors come. We configured it as privacy friendly as possible and we use no advertising features, no remarketing and no audience building. Where the law requires consent, analytics only starts after you accept it.

Payments

When you open the give page or the Stripe checkout, Stripe sets cookies that are strictly necessary for secure payment and fraud prevention. They only appear once you choose to give.

Embedded videos

Some pages embed videos, for example from YouTube. The video platform may set its own cookies when you play a video. We use privacy enhanced embedding where the platform offers it, which delays cookies until you actually press play.

What we do not use

No advertising cookies, no retargeting, no cross site tracking, no social media pixels, no sale of data.

Exact names and durations can change when providers update their services; we keep this table current with each policy revision.

4. Managing cookies and your consent

Where consent is required, you make your choice via the cookie notice on your first visit, and you can change or withdraw it at any time via the cookie settings on the site. Essential cookies cannot be refused because the site does not work without them.

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings; blocking functional cookies may break parts of the site. How to manage cookies differs per browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera each explain it in their help pages.

To block Google Analytics everywhere, you can additionally install Google's opt out add on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

5. Other tracking technologies and advertising

Web beacons and pixels. Besides cookies, techniques such as web beacons (tracking pixels) exist that can recognize when someone visits a page or opens an email. We do not use tracking pixels on the website. Our newsletters may contain standard delivery statistics of our email provider (whether a newsletter was opened), used only to keep our own lists healthy.

Personalized advertising. We do not show advertising on faith.network, we do not allow advertising networks to set cookies through our pages, and we do not share data with advertisers. There is therefore nothing to opt out of; there are no advertising cookies here to begin with.

Flash cookies. We do not use Flash or Local Shared Objects.

6. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top shows when it was last updated; please revisit it regularly.
