The Explanation
Once, long ago, there was a king. His name was Solomon. Solomon was building a very big house. Not a normal house. A house for God. It was called the temple.
The temple had to be very beautiful. Because it was for God. Solomon thought: nothing is too pretty for God.
So Solomon made a big table. It was made of copper. Shiny and strong. On the table there was room to wash. Because the priests had to be clean. Clean when they came to God.
And then Solomon made something else. Something very big. It was called the sea. But it was not real water from the ocean. It was a huge round bowl. So big! You could swim in it. It stood on twelve copper cows. Look, twelve! All copper cows, strong on their legs. They carried the big bowl.
The bowl was full of water. Clear, cool water. The priests washed themselves in it. Their hands. Their feet. Everything clean.
Solomon also made ten smaller bowls. And ten lampstands of pure gold. Ten! In a row in the temple. And ten tables. And bowls, and forks, and pots. Everything shiny. Everything beautiful.
The whole temple sparkled. Gold and copper everywhere. When the sun shone inside, it glittered. It was the most beautiful house in the whole land.
What Does This Mean?
Solomon did not do this because he wanted to show off. No. Solomon did it for God. Solomon thought: God is so great. God is so good. So His house has to be beautiful too.
Everything in the temple had a job. The water was for washing. The bread was for eating. The lamps were for light. God's house was full of light and full of clean water. A safe place. A special place.
The Common Thread
Now listen well. That temple was very special. But there came Someone who was even more special. His name is Jesus.
Jesus said: I am the light. Like those ten golden lamps. And Jesus makes people clean inside. Better than all the water in that big bowl. Jesus makes hearts clean.
The temple was beautiful. But Jesus is even more beautiful. He is the very best gift from God.
For You
You know what is nice? You do not have to go to that big temple. Because Jesus wants to come to you. To your bed. To your play corner. To the kitchen.
You can just talk to Him. Right where you are. God listens. Always.
And when you did something naughty? Then you may say sorry. Jesus makes your heart clean again. Just like that clean water in the big bowl. Fresh and new.

It was a handbreadth thick. Its brim was made like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily. It received and held three thousand baths."
The sea in Solomon's temple was massive, holding thousands of gallons, yet its rim was shaped like a lily in bloom. Strength and beauty together. God cares about both what a thing does and how it looks doing it. Even the washbasin was crafted like a flower.
Where in your life have you settled for function alone, forgetting that the God you serve delights in beauty too?
Solomon made all the vessels that were in God's house, the golden altar also, and the tables with the show bread on them. Every spoon, every basin, crafted in gold for worship.
Notice how God cares about the small tools. The spoons matter to Him. Your hidden, unnoticed acts of service are not too small to be made of gold in His eyes.
