Jeremiah 33

The Explanation
Listen. There was a man. His name was Jeremiah. Jeremiah sat inside a big house. He could not go outside. The door was locked. He was all alone.
But then… Jeremiah heard something. A voice. It was God! God spoke to Jeremiah in that locked room.
God said: "Jeremiah, call to Me. Just call. And I will answer you. I will tell you very big things. Things you do not know yet."
Outside, the city was broken. The houses were broken. The walls were broken. Everything was sad and quiet. No singing. No laughing. No sheep in the fields. Nothing.
But God said something wonderful. God said: "I am going to make it better. I will heal the city. I will bring the people back home. I will wash them clean, all their wrong things. I will forgive them."
And then God said: "Listen! One day you will hear it again. Laughing! Singing! A bride and a bridegroom. People saying, 'Thank You, God! God is good!' The sheep will come back. The shepherds will come back. The fields will be full again."
What Does This Mean?
God gave Jeremiah a promise. A very big promise.
Even when everything looked broken and sad, God said: "I see it. And I will make it new. I will not forget My people."
God's promise is strong. Look up at the sky. The sun comes up every morning. The stars come out every night. God made day and night. God keeps day and night going. And just like that, God keeps His promises. Every day. Every night.
The Common Thread
God told Jeremiah one more thing. Something very special.
God said: "One day, a new little Branch will grow. Like a small green branch on a tree. He will come from King David's family. He will be good and right. And He will save the people."
Do you know who that little Branch is? That is Jesus! Jesus came, long after Jeremiah. Jesus is the King who makes everything good again. God kept His promise.
For You
Sometimes you feel sad. Maybe you broke something. Maybe you had a bad dream. Maybe you feel all alone in your bed at night.
Then you can do what God said to Jeremiah. You can call. Just call to God. He hears you. He always hears you. You do not have to shout. You can whisper. God bends down close and listens.
And God says to you too: "I love you. I make things new. I am with you."
