The Explanation
There was once a man. His name was Job. Job loved God very much. And God loved Job.
But Job was very sad. Very, very sad. His whole body hurt. From his head to his toes. He had big, sore bumps everywhere. Ouch, ouch, ouch.
Job did not sit on a soft chair. No, Job sat in the ashes. The ashes were gray and dusty. He held a piece of broken pot in his hand. With that piece he scratched his sore skin, very carefully.
Then Job's wife came. She looked at Job. She was sad too. She said, "Job, why do you still love God? Just say goodbye to God."
But Job shook his head. Job said, "No. God gives us many good things. Sometimes there are hard things too. But God is still God. I keep on trusting Him."
What Does This Mean?
Job was very sick. And very sad. But deep in his heart, Job kept on holding God's hand. Even in the ashes. Even with the ouches.
Then something beautiful happened. Job had three friends. Their names were Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar. They lived far away. But they heard Job was sad.
So they came. They walked and walked and walked. All the way to Job.
When they saw Job from far away, they almost did not know him. Oh, poor Job! They began to cry. Big tears. They sat down next to Job in the ashes.
And do you know what they did? Nothing. They said nothing. For seven days and seven nights they just sat with Job. Very quiet. Very close.
The Common Thread
Job was not alone. His friends sat with him. And God saw Job too. God always saw Job.
Later, much later, Someone else came who knows all about sad things. His name is Jesus. Jesus also cried. Jesus also had sore places. Jesus knows exactly how it feels to hurt.
And Jesus sits close to you too, when you are sad. He never walks away.
For You
Sometimes you fall and it hurts. Sometimes your tummy aches. Sometimes you are sad and you do not even know why.
Then you may do what Job did. You may say, "God, I still love You. Please help me."
And you know what is so nice? God is like Job's friends. God sits very close to you. God does not walk away when you cry. God stays.
Maybe you know someone who is sad. A friend at school. Grandma. Your little brother. You can do what Job's friends did. Just sit next to them. Give a hug. That helps so much.

Dear God,
Thank You that You always stay close. When I am happy, You are there. When I cry, You are there too. Please help sick people and sad people. Sit next to them, like You sit next to me.
