The Explanation

David was scared. Very scared.

Big men were chasing him. All day long. They wanted to hurt him. They followed his steps, quiet as cats.

David's heart went fast. Bump, bump, bump.

But David knew Someone. Someone bigger than the scary men.

"When I am afraid," David said, "I will trust you, God."

He did not hide his tears. He cried real tears, wet on his cheeks.

What Does This Mean?

David believed something wonderful. God saw every tear.

Not one tear fell to the ground and was lost. God caught every single one.

He kept them safe, like drops in a little bottle. Like treasure.

David whispered, "You put my tears into your container. Aren't they in your book?"

God was writing it all down. He forgot nothing. Not one scary night. Not one long day of running.

David was not alone, even in the dark.

The Common Thread

God always sees the ones who are scared.

Long, long after David, another man walked this same earth. His name was Jesus.

Jesus was chased too. Men who did not like him followed him, watched him, wanted to hurt him.

Jesus cried real tears too, just like David.

But God saw Jesus. God did not forget him. God brought him through, all the way to the light.

That is what David hoped for, long before it happened. God delivers. God saves. God walks his people into the light.

Have you ever been scared? Maybe in the dark. Maybe when you fell down. Maybe when you had a bad dream.

You can do what David did. Whisper it, right now: "When I am afraid, I will trust you, God."

God sees you too. If you cried today, he saw that tear. He knows exactly where it fell.

You are never too small for God to notice. You are never too scared for him to hear you.

He is writing your story too, every single day of it.
