Revelation 10

Explanation and Bible story for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3-6)

Bible

The Explanation

John was a friend of Jesus. God showed John many things. Look, John is looking up!

What does John see? An angel! A very big angel. A very strong angel.

The angel comes down from heaven. He has a cloud around him, like a coat. On his head is a rainbow. So beautiful!

His face shines like the sun. So bright! His feet look like pillars of fire. Big and warm and bright.

In his hand the angel holds a little book. The book is open. You can see the pages.

The angel is very big. He puts one foot on the sea. He puts his other foot on the land. Splash and thump!

Then the angel calls very loud. He roars like a lion! Rrroooaar!

And then it thunders. Seven times. Rumble, rumble, rumble.

John wants to write down what the thunder says. But God says, "No, John. Not now. Sshh."

Then the angel lifts up his hand to heaven. And he makes a promise. A promise from God.

The angel says, "Soon it is time! God will finish everything He said. Really soon!"

What Does This Mean?

Then John hears a voice again. The voice says, "John, go to the angel. Take the little book."

John walks to the big angel. His heart goes bump, bump.

The angel gives him the little book. And the angel says something strange. "Eat it, John! Eat the book!"

Eat a book? Yes! John opens his mouth. And he eats the little book.

Yum! In his mouth it tastes sweet. As sweet as honey. Mmmmm.

But in his tummy it feels sad. A little bit sore. Because God's words are sweet and sometimes sad too.

The Common Thread

Then God says, "John, now go and tell. Tell everyone about Me. Tell people far away. Tell kings and children and mothers and fathers."

John listens to God. John is going to tell.

And do you know what John tells? About Jesus. About the great King who is coming. Jesus loves people. Jesus is very strong. Even stronger than the big angel.

God always keeps His promises. Always, always. He is not late. He knows exactly when.

For You

You can also listen to God. Just like John did. God speaks in the Bible. His words are sweet, like honey.

And you can also tell. About Jesus. To Grandma. To your friend. To the cat, if you want.

Say it just like this: "Jesus loves you!" That is enough. That is beautiful.

Talk About It

What did John have to do with the little book? Can you show it?

Who can you tell that Jesus loves them?

Praying Together

Dear God,

Thank You for the big angel. Thank You for John. Thank You that Your words are sweet. Help me to listen. Help me to tell about Jesus.

Amen.
