Titus 3
Explanation and Bible story for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3-6)
The Explanation
Once there was a man called Paul. Paul was a friend of Jesus. He wrote a letter. The letter went to another friend, called Titus.
In the letter Paul said something important. Listen carefully.
"Titus," said Paul, "tell the people to be kind. Very kind. To everybody."
Do not shout at people. Do not fight. Say nice words. Help each other. That is what Paul wrote.
And then Paul told a beautiful thing. He wrote about God. God is so good. God loves people. Even when people do wrong things, God still loves them.
Jesus came to help. Jesus washed the mess inside people all clean. Nice and clean, like a fresh bath. And God gave His Spirit. God's Spirit lives in people who love Jesus. That makes their hearts warm and new.
What Does This Mean?
God is very, very kind. That is what the letter says. God does not stay angry. God helps. God washes clean. God gives new life.
And people who know God, they may be kind too. Just like God.
The Common Thread
Do you know why God is so kind? Because of Jesus.
Jesus came from heaven. Jesus loves little children. Jesus loves grown-ups. Jesus washes hearts clean, softly and gently. Nobody has to be scared.
Paul wrote it in his letter. And God still says it today. "I love you. I make you new."
That is the big story. From long ago, all the way to now. God is kind. Jesus is here. And He holds you tight.
For You
Look at your hands. Two little hands.
Your hands can hit. But your hands can also help. Which do you want?
God helps you to be kind. When your brother is sad, you can give a hug. When Mommy is tired, you can be quiet. When somebody drops a toy, you can pick it up.
And when you do something wrong? Then you may come to Jesus. Just say it. Jesus washes it clean. Every time.
You do not have to be perfect. You may just be little. God loves you. Very, very much.

Thank You that You are so kind.

Greet those who love us in faith. Grace be with you all. Amen." Paul writes to one man, Titus, but ends with "you all." Grace never stops at one person. And notice who gets greeted: not the impressive, not the flawless, but "those who love us in faith." Is there someone you've stopped greeting? Send the word today.
But shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."
Notice the word Paul uses: unprofitable. Not wrong, not heretical, just empty. You can win an argument online tonight and wake up tomorrow with nothing to show for it. Meanwhile the people around you needed your gentleness, not your position. What conversations have been quietly stealing your soul?
To speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men."
Notice that last phrase: "toward all men." Not just the kind ones. Not just believers. All. Think of the person you find hardest to respect right now. Paul says gentleness belongs to them too. That is not weakness. That is the shape of a life that remembers it was once rescued.
