The Explanation
There was a man. His name was Paul. Paul knew Jesus very well. He loved Jesus very much.
Paul had a pen. And paper. He wrote a letter. A long letter, for people far away. Those people lived in a place called Galatia.
But Paul was sad. Very sad. Because those people were listening to the wrong story. Someone had come and said something strange about Jesus. Something that was not true.
Paul wrote: "Stop! Listen to me. I will tell you the real story again."
What Does This Mean?
Paul knew the real story about Jesus. Do you know how? Jesus Himself had told it to him. Yes, really! One day, on a long road, Jesus spoke to Paul. Paul was surprised. Paul was amazed.
Before that day, Paul did not like Jesus. Paul did not like the people who followed Jesus. He was mean to them. Very mean.
But then Jesus came. And everything changed. Paul's heart changed. His head changed. His hands changed. Paul began to love Jesus. And he told everyone about Him.
That is why Paul writes this letter. He wants to say: the story of Jesus is true. Hold on to it. Do not let go.
The Common Thread
There is one big story in the Bible. It is the story of Jesus. Jesus came to earth. Jesus loved us. Jesus died on the cross. And Jesus lives again!
That is good news. So good, so happy, so warm.
Paul writes: this is the only story. There is no other. Jesus is enough. Jesus is everything.
God had a plan, long, long ago. And Jesus was that plan. A big, big gift for you and me.
For You
Sometimes people say strange things. About God. About Jesus. About the Bible.
But you may know: Jesus loves you. That is true. That will always be true.
You do not have to do anything difficult first. You do not have to be very good first. Jesus loves you. Just as you are. In your pajamas. With sticky fingers. With tears on your cheeks.
That is the real story. That is the happy story. Hold it tight, like a warm blanket.
And when someone tells you something strange? Then you can ask mama or papa. Or the person who reads with you now. Together you look in the Bible. Because there stands the real story.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Paul says it twice on purpose: "As we have said before, so I now say again." That is not temper, that is a man watching someone slip a price tag onto something free. Every addition to the gospel quietly subtracts Jesus. So ask gently: what have you attached to grace lately? Good behavior? Being right? A version of yourself you can finally be proud of?
Paul says it plainly: "beyond measure I persecuted the assembly of God, and ravaged it." No softening, no excuses. He can speak his worst chapter out loud because it no longer owns him. What part of your story are you still keeping in the dark? Grace is not what hides it. Grace is what lets you finally say it.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days." Picture that room. The man who denied Jesus hosting the man who hunted His followers. Fifteen days of meals and stories, both of them undone by mercy. Whoever you cannot imagine sitting across from, grace sets a longer table than you think.
