Hebrews 1
Explanation and Bible story for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3-6)
The Explanation
Long, long ago, God wanted to talk to people. So He did! God spoke to Noah. God spoke to Moses. God spoke to many people who told others what God said. Those people were called prophets.
But then something wonderful happened. God had one more way to speak. The very best way. God sent His own Son. His Son is Jesus.
Jesus came to earth. And when Jesus talks, it is like God Himself is talking. Because Jesus and God belong together, forever and ever.
What Does This Mean?
Jesus is very, very special. Do you know how special?
Jesus helped make the whole world. The trees, the stars, the little ants. Jesus made them all. And Jesus keeps everything going. Every single day.
The Bible says Jesus shines. He shines like sunlight, warm and bright. When you see Jesus, you see how good God is.
And there is more. Angels are helpers of God. Angels are strong and shiny. But Jesus is even bigger than all the angels. The angels bow down and worship Jesus. Because Jesus is the King.
The Common Thread
Jesus is King forever. His throne will never break. His crown will never fall.
The world we see now will one day get old. Like your favorite sweater gets old and worn out. But Jesus stays the same. Always. Forever.
And Jesus did something very brave. He washed away all our wrong things. All the times we were angry. All the times we hit or shouted. Jesus took it all away, so we can be close to God again.
Then Jesus went back to heaven. He sat down next to His Father. Right there, in the very best spot.
For You
Do you know what this means for you?
Jesus is close. Jesus knows your name. Jesus made your fingers and your toes. Jesus made the flowers you pick and the clouds you point at.
And Jesus loves you. Very, very much.
When you feel small, remember: the big, strong King Jesus is your Friend. When you feel scared in your bed at night, you can whisper His name. Jesus. He hears you.
The angels sing for Him. The stars shine for Him. And you? You can talk to Him. Just like that.
That is really something wonderful.
Talk About It
Jesus helped make everything. What did God make that you love the most?
Jesus is the biggest King. What do you want to tell King Jesus today?
Praying Together
Dear Jesus,
You are so big. You made the stars. You made me.
Thank You for being my King. Thank You for coming close.
I love You, Jesus.
Amen.

What others discovered
Of the angels he says, 'He makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame of fire.'"
Angels are wind and fire, powerful, yes, but shifting, sent, blown where God wills. The writer sets this beside the Son, who is seated, steady, eternal. So when your life feels like wind and flame, unpredictable and burning, remember: you are not held by servants. You are held by the Son who does not move.
You are my Son. Today I have become your father?"
The writer asks which angel ever heard those words. None. This intimate naming belongs to Jesus alone. And yet, through Him, the Father speaks something similar over you. You have been brought into a Sonship that angels only glimpse from the outside. Sit with that today. You are not staff in God's house. You are family.
Let all the angels of God worship him." Pause on that. The very beings who stand before God's throne, who terrified prophets and shepherds alike, are commanded to bow before Jesus. He is not one of them. He is worshiped by them.
And this same Jesus knows your name. The One angels adore leaned close to the tired, the sinful, the small. If heaven's mightiest fall down before Him, maybe your quiet worship this morning matters more than you think.
