Proverbs 7

The Explanation

Listen. A father sits with his boy. He looks his son in the eyes. And he says something important.

"My son," says the father. "Listen well. I want to tell you something. Something you must remember."

The father speaks softly and warmly. "There are wise words. Good words. From God. Keep those words close. Like a beautiful treasure. Put them in your heart."

The boy listens.

"Look outside," says the father. He points to the window. "Do you see that boy walking there? All alone? It is already getting dark. The sun is going down. It becomes evening. And then night."

The little boy in the street does not know where he is going. He walks and walks. He does not think.

"Watch out, boy!" the father whispers. "That road is not good. Go home. Go back!"

But the boy in the street keeps walking. Into the dark. Away from home. Away from wise words.

The father shakes his head sadly. Then he looks at his own son again. He takes his hand.

"You must not do that," says the father. "You must stay close to wise words. Then you stay safe. Then you stay near God."

What Does This Mean?

The father in the Bible loves his son very much. That is why he warns him. Just like your daddy or mommy says: "Do not run into the street!" Not to be mean. But because they love you.

God is like that too. God gives good words. Words that keep you safe. Words that show the way.

Some roads are dark. Some roads lead away from home. But God says: "Come, walk with Me. I know the way."

The Common Thread

Do you know who always walks the right way? Jesus. Jesus never got lost. Jesus stayed close to God, His Father. Always.

And Jesus says to you: "I am the way. Come, take My hand. I will bring you home."

Even if it gets dark. Even if you do not know the way. Jesus knows. He holds you tight.

For You

Sometimes it is dark. Sometimes you do not know what to do. Then you can listen. Listen to Daddy. Listen to Mommy. Listen to what the Bible says.

They are like a lantern in the dark. A little light on the path.

And you know what? God has given you ears to listen. And a heart to remember. When you hear a Bible story, it is like a little seed. It grows inside you. And it helps you when you get bigger.

So keep listening, sweet child. Keep listening to God's good words. They are a treasure. Just for you.
