Revelation 5
Explanation and Bible story for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3-5)
The Explanation
John looked up. Far, far away, he saw a big chair. Someone was sitting on it. In his hand was a book. Not just any book. It was closed tight, with seven seals.
An angel called out, so loud. "Who can open the book?" No one answered. No one in the sky. No one on the earth. No one, anywhere.
John started to cry. He cried and cried. Big tears. No one could open the book.
Then someone touched his arm. "Don't cry," said a voice. "Look! A Lion has won. He can open it."
John looked. But he did not see a lion. He saw a Lamb. Small. Quiet. It looked like it had been hurt, once. But now it was standing, alive.
What Does This Mean?
The Lamb walked to the big chair. Gently, He took the book from the hand. And right then, something happened.
Everyone fell down. Down on their knees. They started to sing. A brand new song, never sung before.
"You are worthy," they sang to the Lamb. "You were killed. And with your blood, you bought people. From every place, every land."
Golden bowls smelled like flowers. Harps made soft music. The Lamb had done what no one else could do.
The Common Thread
That Lamb is Jesus. He looks small. But He is not weak. He gave His life, once, on a cross. And now He is alive again.
Because He did that, He is the only One who may open the book. Not because He is the strongest fighter. But because He loved enough to die.
That is why heaven sings. Not about a king with a sword. But about a Lamb with scars.
For You
Then more voices joined in. Not just a few. Thousands and thousands. Ten thousand times ten thousand. Everyone in the sky. Everyone on the earth. Even under the sea.
Together they said, "Worthy is the Lamb!"
Can you say that too? Softly, or loud. "Worthy is the Lamb." You may sing it, just like they did. Jesus loves you, exactly like He loved them.
The four living creatures said, "Amen!" And everyone bowed down low, to say thank you to Him.
Talk About It
Why did the Lamb, and not a lion with sharp teeth, open the book?
Can you sing your own little song for Jesus, right now?
Praying Together
Dear Jesus, You are the Lamb. You died, and now You are alive again. Thank you. You are worthy. I love You. Amen.

What others discovered
Heaven's loudest song ends in a single word and a falling body. "The four living creatures said, 'Amen!' The elders fell down and worshiped." No new verse, no louder instrument. Just agreement, then the floor. Maybe your prayers do not need more words today. Maybe they need your knees.
I saw, in the right hand of him who sits on the throne, a book written inside and outside, sealed shut with seven seals."
Notice where the scroll is. Not locked in a vault, not lost, but held in a hand. Your life is written on both sides already, nothing left to add. And the One holding it is seated, unhurried, and about to hand it to the Lamb.
John had been weeping because no one was found worthy to open the scroll. Now listen to how far the answer reaches: "every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them." Not one corner left out. And the praise goes to the throne and to the Lamb together, the slaughtered one honored as God. Your voice is somewhere in that sound.
Notice what heaven sings over you: "made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on the earth." Not a reward for the impressive, but for the purchased. A priest carries others to God. So whose name did you bring to him this week? The blood that bought you also handed you work to do.
