God's love shines all day
God's steady love
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 118:24, Proverbs 17:17, Mark 10:14 and Psalm 121:3-4.
☀ The morning moment
This is the day that Yahweh has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!
Psalm 118:24 (WEB)
In simple words: God made this day just for you. It is a day to be happy and glad!
Good morning! Did you know that today is a brand new gift from God? He made this Thursday just for you. The sunshine, the birds outside, even your breakfast on the table, all of it comes from Him.
Maybe you have spelling at school, or a friend to sit with at lunch, or a game to play at recess. God is with you in every single part. He is glad you are His.
So when you pack your bag and put on your shoes, remember: this day is special. You can smile and say, thank You God for today. Something good is waiting, because God made it.
✦ The lunch moment
A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.
Proverbs 17:17 (WEB)
In simple words: A real friend keeps loving you, no matter what. Family and true friends stick close when things get hard.
Think about your best friend for a second. Maybe the one who saves you a seat, or shares their chips at lunch, or laughs at your silliest jokes.
Proverbs says a true friend loves you all the time. Not only when you win the game, or when you have the coolest sticker to trade. Also when you spill your drink, or when you feel grumpy, or when you got a bad mark on your spelling test.
This afternoon, you can be that kind of friend too. Notice the kid who sits alone. Say something kind to your brother or sister when you get home. A small warm word can make someone's whole day brighter, and that is a beautiful thing.
✩ The afternoon moment
But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, 'Allow the little children to come to me! Don't forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'
Mark 10:14 (WEB)
In simple words: Jesus told His helpers not to send the children away. He wanted the kids close to Him. He said God's Kingdom belongs to children like them.
Picture the scene. Parents are pushing forward with their kids. Some children have sticky hands from lunch. Some are shy. Some are wiggling and can't stand still. Jesus' friends try to shoo them away, thinking Jesus is too busy and important for little ones.
But Jesus stops everything. He is actually upset that anyone would send the children away. He wants them near Him. Not later, not when they are older, not when they behave better. Right now.
Maybe today at school you felt small, or someone acted like your ideas didn't matter. Jesus does not think that about you. He would push through the crowd just to sit with you. You belong close to Him, exactly as you are this afternoon.
☾ The evening moment
He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
Psalm 121:3-4 (WEB)
In simple words: God is always awake watching over you. He never gets sleepy. Even when you close your eyes tonight, He is still taking care of you.
Have you ever noticed how quiet your room gets at night? The lights go off, the day goes soft, and everything slows down. Your body is tired from school, from running, from thinking so many thoughts. Now it is time to rest.
Here is something amazing. While you sleep, God does not sleep. He is not tired. He does not need a break. He is watching over you the whole night through, like the best night light that never runs out of batteries.
You do not have to hold today in your hands anymore. The spelling test, the game at recess, the little thing that felt big, you can let it all go. God has you. Close your eyes. You are safe.
