Sing and stay close to God

Joyful trust

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 100:1-2, Psalm 133:1, Luke 19:3-4 and Psalm 91:1-2.

☀ The morning moment

Shout for joy to Yahweh, all you lands! Serve Yahweh with gladness. Come before his presence with singing.

Psalm 100:1-2 (WEB)

In simple words: Everyone everywhere, be happy and sing to God! Come to Him with a big smile and a cheerful heart.

Hop out of bed! It's Sunday, and the sun is up, and so are you. Can you hear the birds outside? They already started singing before you even opened your eyes.

Psalm 100 says everyone can join in. You, your little brother, grandma, the neighbor's dog (well, maybe not the dog, but you get it). God loves it when His children come to Him happy. Not because you have to, but because He is so good.

Maybe today you'll go to church, or sing at home, or draw a picture for God. Whatever you do, do it with a big smile. God is smiling too, right at you. This is His day, and you get to spend it with Him.

✦ The lunch moment

See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!

Psalm 133:1 (WEB)

In simple words: It is a wonderful and happy thing when God's people are together and get along well.

Look around the table for a second. Maybe your family is here, or maybe grandma came over, or a friend stayed for lunch after church. That's a small picture of what this verse is about.

God loves it when people who belong to Him hang out together. Sharing bread, laughing at a silly joke, passing the water jug. It makes Him smile. It's like a warm sound He enjoys hearing.

Sunday afternoon is stretching out in front of you now. You could play a game with your brother or sister, call someone who was at church, or just sit close to someone you love. Being together is a gift. You get to enjoy it today.

✩ The afternoon moment

He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn't because of the crowd, because he was short. He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.

Luke 19:3-4 (WEB)

In simple words: Zacchaeus really wanted to see Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed up a tree to get a good look.

Picture this. A grown man in a fancy coat, hitching up his robe and scrambling up a tree like a kid climbing at the park on a Sunday afternoon. That was Zacchaeus. Nobody liked him much. He had cheated people out of their money.

But something in his heart was hungry. He just had to see Jesus. He didn't care how silly he looked up in those branches. He climbed anyway.

And here is the amazing part. Out of the whole crowd, Jesus stopped right under that tree and looked up. Jesus saw him. Sometimes you feel small too, or forgotten in a big room. Jesus still sees you, exactly where you are.

☾ The evening moment

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.'

Psalm 91:1-2 (WEB)

In simple words: When you stay close to God, He keeps you safe like a strong castle. You can trust Him with everything, day and night.

Look at your blanket for a moment. Feel how soft and warm it is. When you pull it up to your chin, it feels like a safe little cave, doesn't it?

God is a bit like that, but even better. The Bible says He is your fortress, a strong castle where nothing can hurt you. Today was Sunday, a day to rest and be with family. Now the day is quietly ending, and God is still right here with you.

You don't have to be afraid of the dark or of tomorrow. God doesn't sleep. He watches over you all night long, closer than your blanket, closer than your own breath. You are safe.
