God's Strength and Loving Care
Strength and Care
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 118:14, Luke 6:31, Mark 4:38 and Psalm 139:5.
☀ Morning moment
Yah is my strength and song. He has become my salvation.
Psalm 118:14 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is like your strength and your favorite song all in one. He is the One who saves and helps you.
Stretch your arms wide, it is Saturday. No school bag, no rushing. Maybe you can stay in pajamas a little longer, or make pancakes with dad, or ride your bike down the street. Days like this feel like a present.
But even on a slow, easy day, you are not alone. God is your strength when you want to build the tallest block tower or climb higher on the play tree. God is your song when you hum while you draw or dance in the living room. He is not far away in church only, He is right here in your Saturday morning too.
He has become my salvation, the verse says. That means God rescues you, again and again, in big ways and small ways, like when you fall off your bike and He helps you feel brave enough to get back on.
Your turn
Hum your favorite song out loud once today, just because God gave you a voice to sing with.
✦ Lunch moment
“As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.
Luke 6:31 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Jesus says, treat people the way you want them to treat you.
It is Saturday, a lazy kind of day. Maybe you are playing a board game with your brother, or building something with blocks. Have you ever noticed how nice it feels when someone lets you go first, or shares the last cookie without making a big deal?
Jesus says something so simple today. Think about how you want to be treated, and then treat others that way first. You do not have to wait for someone to be kind to you. You can just start.
Your turn
Maybe your little sister wants to join your game today, even though she is not very good at it yet. Think about how you would feel if you got left out, and let her play.
✩ Afternoon moment
He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?”
Mark 4:38 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: A big storm hit the boat, but Jesus was fast asleep. His friends woke Him up because they were so scared.
Have you ever been scared in the middle of something loud and wild, like thunder crashing while you tried to sleep? The disciples were in a boat, and the waves got bigger and bigger. Water splashed in. But Jesus just kept sleeping, calm as anything, right through the storm.
That is strange, isn't it? How could He sleep through all that noise? Maybe He trusted His Father so much that He felt safe, even when everything around Him was shaking. The disciples woke Him up because they did not feel safe at all.
Your turn
Today, before you go play or rest this afternoon, tell someone in your family one thing that sometimes makes you feel scared or worried.
☾ Evening moment
You hem me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me.
Psalm 139:5 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is close behind you and close in front of you. His hand rests gently on you, like a soft blanket.
Think about today. Maybe you rode bikes, baked cookies, or just lay on the couch with a good book. Saturdays are for slow, happy things, and now the day is winding down.
You are tucked into bed now, or almost there. It feels dark and quiet, maybe a little too quiet. But you are never really alone. God is right behind you, and right in front of you too. His hand is resting on you, softly, the way a mom or dad tucks a blanket up to your chin.
Your turn
Tomorrow is Sunday, a day to go to church, sing, and be with others who love God too. Tonight though, just rest. Whisper one thing you are thankful for from today before you close your eyes.
