God Guides You Every Day
God guides us
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 143:8, Ecclesiastes 4:12, Mark 2:12 and Psalm 139:14.
☀ Morning moment
Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.
Psalm 143:8 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Every morning you can ask God to show His love and help you know which way to go today.
The alarm goes off and your feet touch the cold floor. Maybe you do not feel like getting up yet, but a whole new day is waiting for you, with breakfast, your school bag, and friends to see.
Before any of that starts, God is already awake and thinking of you. He is not far away in heaven, watching from a distance. He wants to walk right beside you, through the school gate, into the classroom, out on the playground. You do not have to figure everything out alone. He shows you the way, step by step, just like a mom or dad walking you to school.
Your turn
Before you leave the house today, whisper a quiet thank you to God for this new morning.
✦ Lunch moment
If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: One person alone can be pushed over, but two people together are strong. Friends who stick together are even stronger.
Think about your lunch table today. Maybe you sit with the same friends, or maybe someone is eating alone and looks a bit lost.
God made us to need each other. One stick snaps easily, but three sticks tied together are hard to break. That is what friends are like. When you help a friend carry their tray, or laugh together at a silly joke, you are being that strong, tied together thing.
You do not have to be everyone's best friend. You just have to notice who needs a friend today, and be one.
Your turn
At lunch today, sit with or talk to someone who looks like they could use a friend.
✩ Afternoon moment
He arose, and immediately took up the mat, and went out in front of them all; so that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”
Mark 2:12 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: The man who could not walk stood up, picked up his mat, and walked right out. Everyone was amazed and thanked God.
Think about this man. He could not walk for years. Maybe he had friends who carried him everywhere, like when your friend pushes your bike home because you fell and hurt your knee. Then Jesus looked at him and said, get up. And he did. Just like that.
Imagine walking home from school today and suddenly running, jumping, spinning around, because you never thought you could. That is how surprised this man felt. His friends probably laughed and cried at the same time. Everyone in the room could not believe their eyes.
Jesus can do things nobody else can do. You do not have to understand exactly how. You can just be amazed with the people in that room.
Your turn
This afternoon, tell someone at home about the part of this story that surprised you most.
☾ Evening moment
I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.
Psalm 139:14 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God made you so carefully and so well. You are one of His wonderful works, and He knows you through and through.
The lights are getting dim, and the house is going quiet. Maybe you can hear the dishwasher humming, or dad's footsteps in the hallway. Your day is done now, all the running and playing and learning.
Before you close your eyes, think about this: God made you. Not just your body, but your laugh, your ideas, the way you notice things nobody else notices. He looked at you and thought, wonderful. He is not far away tonight. He is close, like a lamp still glowing softly in your room.
You don't have to hold onto anything now. You can let your hands go still, let your thoughts go quiet, and rest in a God who already knows you completely and loves what He made.
Your turn
Whisper one thing you like about how God made you, right before you fall asleep.
