God Keeps You Safe and Brave
Safe with God
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 118:6, Proverbs 22:9, Genesis 50:20 and Psalm 121:3.
☀ Morning moment
Yahweh is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Psalm 118:6 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is right there with you, so you don't have to be scared. No one can really hurt you when God is holding your hand.
Maybe your shoes are still untied, your hair is a mess, and you can smell toast burning downstairs. Mornings can feel rushed. But before you even step out the door, God is already there with you, like He was there when you woke up.
Think about the walk to school, or the bus stop where that one kid always says something mean, or the test you are a little nervous about. You are not walking into any of that alone. God is right beside you, the whole way, the whole day.
Your turn
Today, tell one person at breakfast, mom, dad, or a brother or sister, 'God is with me today,' before you leave the house.
✦ Lunch moment
He who has a generous eye will be blessed; for he shares his food with the poor.
Proverbs 22:9 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is happy when you share what you have, even your lunch, with someone who needs it.
Look at your lunch for a second. Maybe there is an apple, a sandwich, something yummy. Now think of someone sitting near you who forgot their lunch, or who just looks a little lonely today.
Sharing food is one of the oldest ways people show love. You do not need big words for it. You just hand someone half your cookie, and suddenly they know they are not forgotten.
God loves a generous heart. Not because you have to share everything, but because a little bit of your lunch can make someone else's day feel warmer.
Your turn
Share one thing from your lunch with someone today.
✩ Afternoon moment
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today.
Genesis 50:20 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Joseph's brothers were mean to him long ago. But Joseph tells them God turned that bad thing into something good for many people.
Maybe today someone was not nice to you. Maybe a kid pushed in line, or said something that stung, or your friend picked someone else first. That feeling does not just go away when the school bell rings.
Joseph knew that feeling too, only much bigger. His own brothers had been cruel to him. Years later he could have stayed angry forever. Instead he looked at everything that happened and said something surprising. He said God had used even the hard parts for good.
You do not have to understand how that works today. You do not have to pretend the hard thing did not hurt. But you can bring it to God, just as it is, and let Him hold it with you.
Your turn
Tell one person at home about one thing that was hard today.
☾ Evening moment
He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber.
Psalm 121:3 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God watches over you all night, and He never falls asleep, so you are safe even when you are resting.
It has been a long Friday. Maybe you ran around at recess, finished your homework, or played outside until it got dark. Now your legs are tired and your eyes are heavy.
While you close your eyes, God stays awake. He does not need sleep like you do. He is watching over your bed, your room, your whole house, all through the night. Nothing can sneak past Him. You do not have to check under the bed or listen for every little sound, because He is already listening for you.
Your turn
Before you fall asleep tonight, whisper one thank you to God for something good from today.
