Sing Praise and Trust God's Care

Praise and trust

3 weeks ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 96:1, Psalm 136:1, 1 Kings 17:6 and Psalm 121:6.

☀ Morning moment

Sing to Yahweh a new song! Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.

Psalm 96:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God wants everyone on earth, even you, to sing a brand new song to Him today.

Your alarm goes off, and for one second everything is still quiet. Then you remember, it is a new day, a whole fresh one that nobody has used before.

Think about that. This morning has never happened before, not for you, not for anyone. God made it just for today, with your breakfast, your school bag, your friends waiting at the gate. He is not tired of you. He is glad you woke up.

Your turn
You do not need a fancy voice to sing to God. You can hum it while you put on your shoes, or sing it loud in the shower, or just whisper it walking to school. Sing one line of a song you know to God before you leave the house.

✦ Lunch moment

Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever.

Psalm 136:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Say thank you to God, because He is good and His love never stops, not even for one day.

Right now you might be holding a sandwich, or sitting at a table full of chatter and clattering trays. Did you even notice the food in front of you today, or did you just start eating without a thought?

God is good, every single day, whether it is a school lunch or dinner at home. His love does not run out halfway through the week like your water bottle does. It just keeps going, quietly, even on a normal Thursday like this one.

Your turn
Before you eat again today, whisper a quick thank you to God, even just in your head.

✩ Afternoon moment

The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

1 Kings 17:6 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Birds brought food to Elijah every morning and every evening, and he drank water from a little stream.

Right about now you might be looking for a snack after school. Maybe you open the fridge, or ask mom what there is to eat. Elijah was hiding by a stream, all alone, and he had no fridge at all.

But every morning and every evening, birds flew to him with bread and meat. Ravens are not gentle little birds, they usually keep food for themselves. Yet God sent them straight to Elijah, again and again, right on time.

God did not forget Elijah, even out in the wild. He does not forget you either, not even on an ordinary Thursday afternoon.

Your turn
When you get your snack today, say a quiet thank You to God for it.

☾ Evening moment

The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

Psalm 121:6 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God watches over you all day and all night long. He never stops keeping you safe.

The lamp is off, the room is dark, and maybe you can hear the wind outside. On a normal Thursday like today, after school and dinner and getting your pajamas on, it is finally quiet. That quiet moment can feel a little big sometimes.

But here is something warm to hold onto. God was watching over you all through the sunny day, and He is still watching now that the moon is up. He does not blink, He does not get tired, He does not forget about you, not even for one second. Nothing that happens in the dark surprises Him.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper a quiet thank you to God for today, for one good thing that happened.
