Look to God and Shine Bright

Shine and Trust

3 weeks ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 34:5, Proverbs 11:13, Luke 17:14 and Matthew 11:28.

☀ Morning moment

They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame.

Psalm 34:5 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When you look to God, Your face lights up with joy. You never have to hide or feel ashamed with Him.

You just woke up. Maybe your hair is a mess and your socks do not match yet, but that is okay. Before you even brush your teeth, God is already looking at you, and He is smiling.

Today you have a spelling test, or maybe you sit next to someone new at lunch, or your shoes untie right before the bell. Big deal or small deal, you do not have to walk into school with a worried face. You can look up to God like the verse says, and let Him make your face bright, even on a Wednesday that feels ordinary.

Your turn
When you look in the mirror this morning, smile and whisper thank You to God for a brand new day.

✦ Lunch moment

One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.

Proverbs 11:13 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Someone who gossips tells other people's secrets. A good friend keeps what you tell them safe.

Right now you are probably sitting with friends, eating lunch, talking about all kinds of things. Maybe someone tells you something a little secret, like who they have a crush on, or something that went wrong at home. That is a small trust moment.

God's wisdom says a good friend keeps things safe. Not because secrets are scary, but because trust is precious, like a favorite toy you don't want broken. When you keep a secret safe, your friend feels calm inside, like they can breathe easy around you.

Your turn
This afternoon, if someone shares something private with you, keep it safe and don't pass it on to others.

✩ Afternoon moment

When he saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” As they went, they were cleansed.

Luke 17:14 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus told ten sick men to go show themselves to the priests. While they were walking there, they got completely well.

Ten men were very sick. Nobody wanted to be near them. Jesus saw them and told them to go, even before they felt any better. That is strange, right? Not fixed yet, just go.

But on the way, while they were still walking, something happened. They got well. Not before they started, but while they were moving.

Maybe you are waiting for something today too. A friend to say sorry, a test to go okay, a worry to go away. You do not always see God working right away. Sometimes it happens quietly, while you are just walking home, doing your homework, or waiting at the table for dinner.

Your turn
Tell one person today about something you are waiting for, and ask them to wait with you.

☾ Evening moment

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus says: come to Me when you are tired, and I will help you rest.

Today was a busy day. You went to school, you ran on the playground, maybe you did homework or helped set the table. Your legs are tired now, and your eyes are getting heavy too.

Jesus knows exactly how that feels. He says you can come to Him just as you are, with your tired arms and your busy head full of thoughts. You do not need to fix anything first. He simply says, come, and I will give you rest.

So tonight, snuggle deep into your blanket. Picture Jesus close by, watching over you like a dad checking on his sleeping child. You are safe. You are held. Nothing you did today was too much for Him to carry.

Your turn
Tonight, whisper to Jesus one thing that tired you out today, and then let it go as you close your eyes.
