God Turns Tears Into Joy

Joy and Trust

2 weeks ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 30:11, Psalm 107:1, Daniel 6:21 and Psalm 91:16.

☀ Morning moment

You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,

Psalm 30:11 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God can turn sad feelings into happy dancing. He takes away our sadness and fills us with joy.

Saturday morning smells different, doesn't it? No rushing, maybe pancakes, maybe still in pajamas. You have a whole day to play, build, ride your bike, or just be with your family.

Sometimes the week was hard. Maybe you felt left out, or grumpy, or tired. God sees all of that. He is not far away watching your sad face from a distance. He loves turning sad things into happy things, like when a friend calls and asks you to play, or when mom laughs at breakfast and everyone joins in.

Your turn
Today, do one thing that makes you dance a little inside, and thank God for it out loud.

✦ Lunch moment

Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.

Psalm 107:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Say thank you to God. He is good, and His love for you never runs out.

Maybe today you get to sleep in a little, or eat pancakes for breakfast, or play outside with no rush at all. Saturdays feel different, don't they? There is more time to just be.

But even on a slow, easy day, it's good to stop and notice the good things around you. The smell of lunch cooking. A game with your brother or sister. Someone driving you somewhere fun. All of that comes from God, who is good, all the time, not just sometimes.

Your turn
Before you finish eating today, say one thank you out loud to someone at your table.

✩ Afternoon moment

Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever!

Daniel 6:21 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Daniel had spent the whole night in a den full of lions. In the morning he was still alive, and he spoke kindly to the king.

Imagine sleeping in a room full of lions all night. That is what happened to Daniel. He had done nothing wrong, but the king still threw him in there. Daniel must have been scared in the dark, hearing the lions breathe close by.

But God was with him the whole night. In the morning, Daniel did not shout or cry. He calmly greeted the king, almost like nothing had happened. God had kept him safe the whole time, even when Daniel could not see how.

Your turn
Maybe today you feel nervous about something too, a dark room, a new game, a friend who seems upset with you. Tell someone at home one thing that feels a little scary right now.

☾ Evening moment

I will satisfy him with long life, and show him my salvation.”

Psalm 91:16 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God promises to take care of you for your whole life and show you how much He loves you.

Maybe today you rode your bike, or built something, or just lay on the couch with your family. Saturdays are good for that, slow and easy, no rush to be anywhere.

Now the day is almost over. Your body is tired, your eyes are heavy. And God is not tired at all. He is still awake, still watching over your house, your bed, your whole family. He has been with you all day, through every game and every giggle, and He is with you now too.

God says He will take care of you your whole life, not just tonight. That is a big, warm promise to fall asleep on. Tomorrow is Sunday, a day to go to church and sing about how good He is.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing you are thankful for from today to God.
