Jesus Carries and Keeps You Safe

Safe with Jesus

2 weeks ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 68:19, Psalm 34:8, John 6:20 and John 10:28.

☀ Morning moment

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens, even the God who is our salvation.

Psalm 68:19 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Every single day, God carries the heavy things for you. He is the God who saves and helps you.

Your backpack feels heavy this morning, doesn't it? Books, your lunch, maybe a jacket in case it rains. You sling it over your shoulder and off you go.

But there are other things you carry too, things nobody can see. Maybe you are nervous about a test, or you had a small fight with your sister, or you just feel tired. God knows about all of that. He does not just watch you carry it, He actually helps carry it with you, every single day, not just on good days.

So today, when your bag feels heavy or your heart feels a little heavy too, remember God is right there lifting it with you. You are not walking alone to school today.

Your turn
Before you leave the house, tell God one thing that feels heavy today, out loud or quietly in your heart.

✦ Lunch moment

Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Psalm 34:8 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God wants you to notice how good He is, like tasting something yummy. When you trust Him, you are safe and happy.

Right now you might be eating lunch. Maybe it is bread, or soup, or your favorite sandwich. Did you know that even lunch can remind you of God?

The Bible says taste and see that God is good. That means you do not just have to believe it in your head. You can notice it, like when food tastes great, or when the sun is warm, or a friend shares their snack with you. Little good things all day long are like tiny notes from God saying I am here, and I am good.

Your turn
During lunch today, notice one good thing on your plate or around you, and quietly say thank You to God for it.

✩ Afternoon moment

But he said to them, “It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

John 6:20 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: The disciples were scared on the lake at night. Then Jesus came walking on the water and said, do not be afraid, it is Me.

Maybe today after school something felt a bit scary or hard. A test you didn't understand, a friend who was grumpy, or just that heavy tired feeling when you walk through the door. The disciples in the boat felt scared too, in the middle of a dark lake, with wind and waves all around them.

Then they saw someone walking on the water. It looked strange and frightening, until they heard His voice. It was Jesus. He didn't shout at them for being scared. He simply said, it is Me, don't be afraid. That's all He needed to say. His voice was enough to calm them down.

You can hear that same voice today, even without waves or wind. When something feels too big, you can whisper, Jesus, is that You? He is closer than you think.

Your turn
Tell one person at home about something that felt a bit scary today, and how it turned out.

☾ Evening moment

I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:28 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus says that everyone who belongs to Him is always safe. Nobody, not even in the dark, can ever take you out of His hand.

The lights are going off one by one. Mom or dad turns off the hallway light, the house gets quiet, and maybe you hear little creaks and sounds you did not notice before. Today was a busy Thursday, with school things and playing and maybe a little tiredness in your legs.

But right now, in your dark room, Jesus is holding you. Not with hands you can see, but just as real. He says nobody can ever snatch you out of His hand, not shadows, not scary sounds, not bad dreams. You are held, tight and safe, all night long.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing to Jesus that happened today, something good or something hard, and know He heard you.
