Four moments for kids

Today For children 3 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 136:1, Luke 8:50, Psalm 139:14.

✦ Lunch moment

Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever.

Psalm 136:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: The Bible tells us to say thank You to God, because He is good and His love for us never stops.

Right now you might be sitting at the lunch table, maybe still in your church clothes, smelling your favorite Sunday food. Sundays are good for slowing down and noticing things, like how your plate got full, or how someone made this meal just for you.

Thankfulness is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. You can be thankful for small things too, a sunny spot by the window, a joke that made you laugh, a hug from grandma. God loves it when you notice His gifts, because He gave them with joy.

Your turn
Before you finish your lunch, tell one person at the table one thing you are thankful for today.

✩ Afternoon moment

But Jesus hearing it, answered him, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe, and she will be healed.”

Luke 8:50 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: A dad was scared because his little girl was very sick. Jesus told him not to worry, just to trust Him.

Maybe you have felt it too, that tight feeling in your tummy when something scary is happening and you cannot fix it. The little girl in this story was so sick that everyone thought it was too late. Her dad ran to Jesus, shaking, probably crying.

Jesus did not say everything would be easy. He just said, do not be afraid, only trust Me. That is such a big thing to say. It means Jesus was not worried at all, even when everyone around Him was. He walked into that house calmly, took her hand, and she got up.

Your turn
Today, after church or during quiet time at home, think of one thing that feels a bit scary to you, and tell Jesus about it out loud, even in a whisper.

☾ Evening moment

I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

Psalm 139:14 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God made you in a special way, just as you are. God's work in making you is amazing, and deep inside you can know that it's true.

Think about today. Maybe you sang loud in church, or sat quietly next to mom during the songs. Maybe you played with your cousins after lunch, or just rested on the couch with a book. God was near you the whole time, even when you weren't thinking about Him.

Before you close your eyes tonight, remember this: God made you exactly the way you are. Your laugh, your freckles, the way you run, all of it. He didn't make a mistake when He made you. You don't have to be anyone else.

Now the lights are getting dim, the house is getting quiet. You don't need to hold yourself together anymore. God is holding you. His hands are big enough for your whole day, the good parts and the hard parts.

Your turn
Before you fall asleep, whisper one thank you to God for something good from today.
