Trusting God Through the Day
Trusting God
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 143:8, Proverbs 25:11, Genesis 37:5 and Psalm 23:1.
☀ Morning moment
Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.
Psalm 143:8 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: In the morning, ask God to show you His love. Tell Him you trust Him to lead you through the day.
Your alarm goes off, or mom calls up the stairs, and suddenly the day starts. Shoes to find, breakfast to eat, a bag to grab before the bus comes. It can feel like a rush.
But right at the start, before all that rushing, God is already there. He is not waiting somewhere far away. He wants to say good morning to you first, before school, before friends, before anything else happens.
You can talk to Him just like you talk to your mom or dad at breakfast. Tell Him what your day looks like, a test, a game, a friend you will see. He listens, and He walks with you the whole way, right into your classroom.
Your turn
Before you leave the house today, whisper a quick good morning to God.
✦ Lunch moment
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
Proverbs 25:11 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: A kind word said at just the right time is like a beautiful gift, shiny and precious.
Think about the last thing someone said to you today. Maybe it was 'good job' or 'want to sit with me?' Small words like that can make a whole morning feel lighter, can't they?
The Bible says a good word at the right moment is like gold wrapped in silver. Not loud or fancy, just true and kind, said exactly when someone needed to hear it. You have that same power in your mouth today, at lunch, on the playground, at home.
You don't need perfect words. Just real ones. 'That was funny.' 'I'm glad you're my friend.' 'You can sit here.'
Your turn
Say one kind, true thing to someone at lunch today, right when they need to hear it.
✩ Afternoon moment
Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him all the more.
Genesis 37:5 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Joseph had an exciting dream and told his brothers about it, but it made them jealous and angry.
Maybe you came home from school today with something exciting to tell. Maybe nobody really listened, or maybe someone even laughed at you. That happened to Joseph too. He had a big dream, and when he told his brothers, they got angry instead of happy for him.
It is strange how sharing good news can sometimes go wrong. You are not doing anything bad by being excited. Jealousy is just a hard feeling that shows up in people sometimes, even in brothers who should love each other.
God never stopped loving Joseph, even when his brothers were unkind. He never stops loving you either, even on days when things feel mixed up at home or with friends.
Your turn
Tell one person at home something good that happened to you today.
☾ Evening moment
Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.
Psalm 23:1 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God takes care of you just like a shepherd takes care of his sheep. You do not have to worry about a thing.
The week is almost done. You ran at school, you played, maybe you got tired or a little grumpy. Now your room is quiet, your shoes are by the door, and the lights are low.
Think of a shepherd watching his sheep at night. He does not fall asleep and forget them. He stays close, he counts them, he keeps them safe until morning. God is like that shepherd for you. He is not far away. He is right here, watching over your bed, your family, your whole house, while you close your eyes.
Your turn
Before you fall asleep tonight, whisper one thank you to God for something good that happened today.
