God Gives Strength and Peace
Strength and peace
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 29:11, Proverbs 27:9, 1 Samuel 16:11 and Psalm 121:6.
☀ Morning moment
Yahweh will give strength to his people. Yahweh will bless his people with peace.
Psalm 29:11 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God gives His people strength. God gives His people peace, like a calm, happy feeling inside.
You open your eyes and it is Saturday. No alarm, no rush. Maybe you hear pancakes sizzling, or your dog scratching at the door, or your sister already giggling downstairs.
On busy days you need strength to run and jump and keep going. On quiet days like today you need peace, that calm feeling that everything is okay. God gives both. He is not far away watching. He is right there, filling you up with strength for playing and peace for resting, all in one day.
You do not have to find peace by yourself. It comes from God, like sunshine coming through your window, warming you without you even trying.
Your turn
Before you get out of bed, whisper a quiet thank you to God for this free day ahead.
✦ Lunch moment
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; so does earnest counsel from a man’s friend.
Proverbs 27:9 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Nice smells make your heart happy. A good friend who gives you honest, kind advice makes you happy too.
Have you ever smelled something so good it made you smile right away, like fresh bread or your mom's perfume? This proverb says a good friend feels just like that. Not because friends smell nice, but because their kind words warm you up inside.
Maybe you have a friend who tells you the truth even when it is hard, like saying "that was not fair" but still wanting to play with you after. That is real friendship. It is not just fun and games, it is also someone who cares enough to help you do better.
Your turn
Saturdays are good days for friends. You might visit someone, call them, or just think of them while you play. Today, send a friend a kind message or tell them one thing you like about them.
✩ Afternoon moment
Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your children here?” He said, “There remains yet the youngest. Behold, he is keeping the sheep.” Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and get him, for we will not sit down until he comes here.”
1 Samuel 16:11 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Samuel asked if all the sons were there. Jesse said his youngest son, David, was still outside watching the sheep.
Maybe you know what it feels like to be outside playing while everyone else is inside, having fun without you. David knew that feeling too. His brothers stood in the house, all dressed up, while David was far away with smelly sheep. Nobody even thought to call him in first.
But Samuel waited. He said, we will not sit down until he comes. God had already chosen David, even before anyone saw him. You might feel forgotten sometimes too, the last one picked, the one left outside. God never forgets you. He already knows exactly who you are.
Your turn
This afternoon, ask someone in your family to do something fun with you, just the two of you.
☾ Evening moment
The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
Psalm 121:6 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God watches over you all day and all night. Nothing can hurt you while He is near.
Today was a Saturday, maybe you played outside, helped in the kitchen, or just had a lazy day on the couch. Now the sun has gone down and the moon is shining through your curtains.
Did you know the moon cannot hurt you? God made it to light up the dark, not to scare you. He is awake all night, watching over your room, your street, your whole family, even when you cannot see Him.
Your turn
Tomorrow is Sunday, a day to go to church and rest some more. Before you close your eyes, whisper one thank you to God for something good from today.
