Joy Comes After Tears

Joy and hope

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 30:5, Ecclesiastes 4:9, Daniel 6:23 and Psalm 4:1.

☀ Morning moment

For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God's anger never lasts long, but His love stays forever. Even a sad night can turn into a happy morning with God.

The alarm clock rings, and here you are, a brand new Monday. Maybe last night you felt a bit sad, or worried about something at school. That is okay. Nights can feel heavy sometimes.

But look, the sun is up now. Your socks are on, your backpack is waiting by the door. God says joy comes in the morning, like fresh bread on the table or your friend waving at the school gate. Whatever happened yesterday, today is new.

God is not far away. He walks with you to school, sits with you at your desk, plays with you at recess. His love does not run out, not even for a second. So take a deep breath. Smile at someone. This morning is a gift, made just for you.

✦ Lunch moment

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Doing things together with a friend is better than doing them alone. You can help each other.

Look around at lunch today. Maybe you are sitting with a friend, sharing food, or laughing about something silly that happened this morning.

God made us to need each other. Nobody was built to do everything alone, not even the strongest kid in your class. When you help a friend carry their bag, or share your snack, or explain a hard math problem, you are doing exactly what God planned for friends to do.

This afternoon there will be moments to work together too. Maybe a group project, a game at recess, or helping a sibling with something. Remember, two are better than one. You do not have to carry everything by yourself.

✩ Afternoon moment

Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

Daniel 6:23 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Daniel spent the whole night in a den full of lions, but God kept him completely safe. Not one scratch on him.

Think about the scariest thing you can imagine, maybe a dark basement, or a dog that barks really loud. Now imagine spending a whole night locked in with hungry lions. That is what happened to Daniel.

Daniel had done nothing wrong. He just kept praying to God, even when it was risky. And all night long, while the lions paced around him, God sent an angel to shut their mouths.

When you feel small or scared, after a hard day at school or lying awake at night, you can remember Daniel. God did not leave him alone in that den. He watched over him the whole night through. God is with you too, even in your scary moments.

☾ Evening moment

Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

Psalm 4:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When something is bothering you, you can talk to God about it. He listens, and He wants to help you feel better.

Was today a busy day? Maybe you had homework, or a math test, or a small fight with your brother or sister. All that busyness can still be buzzing in your head now that you are in bed.

You do not have to carry it by yourself tonight. God is not too tired to listen, and He is not too busy either. You can just tell Him everything, even the small stuff, even the things that feel silly to say out loud.

He hears you. He is not far away, up somewhere in the clouds. He is right here, close to your bed, close to your heart. You can breathe out slowly now. Let your shoulders sink into your pillow. God has heard you, and He will watch over you all through the night.
