God is your mighty friend

Mighty loving friend

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 59:16, Proverbs 18:24, 1 Samuel 17:45 and Psalm 139:9-10.

☀ The morning moment

But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress.

Psalm 59:16 (WEB)

In simple words: I will sing about how strong God is! Every morning I will sing that He loves me, because He keeps me safe like a tall, strong tower.

Have you ever built a tower with blocks and made it as tall as you could? God is like a giant tower, but way stronger than any blocks. Nothing can knock Him over.

It's Friday morning! One more school day, and then the weekend is almost here. Maybe you're eating toast, or looking for your other sock, or hugging the dog goodbye. God is right there with you in all of it.

The person who wrote this song wanted to sing the moment he woke up. You can too. You don't need a perfect voice. You can hum on the way to school, or whisper a happy thank You in your head. God loves hearing from you.

✦ The lunch moment

A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24 (WEB)

In simple words: You can know lots of people, but a real friend is someone who stays close, like family, even when things get tough.

Look around your lunch table for a second. How many faces do you see? Maybe a whole classroom, maybe just your little brother munching next to you.

Having lots of people to wave to is fun. But a real friend is different. A real friend saves you a seat. A real friend notices when you are quiet. A real friend shares half of their sandwich if you forgot yours. That kind of friend is a treasure.

And here is a happy thought for the rest of your Friday: you can BE that friend to someone. You do not need to know a hundred kids. Just find one person this afternoon and be kind on purpose. That is how real friendships start growing.

✩ The afternoon moment

Then David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to you in the name of Yahweh of Armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied."

1 Samuel 17:45 (WEB)

In simple words: David told the huge giant Goliath: you have big weapons, but I come to you in the name of God, who is much stronger than you.

Picture a boy your age standing in a valley. In front of him stands a giant taller than a bus. The giant has a sword bigger than the boy. Everyone else is hiding in their tents, shaking.

But David walks forward. He is not big. He is not a soldier. He only has five smooth stones and a sling. What David does have is a huge trust that God is with him.

Maybe something feels giant to you this week. A test on Monday. A friend who was mean. Something at home that feels too big. You do not have to pretend you are not scared. You can just say, like David, God, You are bigger. Then take one small step forward.

☾ The evening moment

If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand will lead me, your right hand will hold me.

Psalm 139:9-10 (WEB)

In simple words: No matter how far away you go, even to the other side of the sea, God is right there. His hand holds you and never lets go.

Imagine you could fly. Really fly, with wings like a bird, all the way to the ocean, past the clouds, over mountains you have never seen. Would God still be with you there? Yes. Every single place.

Tonight you are not flying anywhere. You are here, in your bed, with your pillow and your blanket. It was a long week. School, homework, maybe someone was grumpy, maybe you were. Now the day is done.

God's hand is holding you right now. You cannot see it, but it is there. Like a warm, safe grip that will not slip. You can close your eyes. He stays awake. He watches over your room, your family, your dreams. You are safe.
