God Is Our Light and Strength

Light and Strength

Today For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 27:1, Proverbs 11:25, Mark 6:41 and Psalm 91:1.

☀ Morning moment

Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God is like a bright light that helps you see, and He keeps you safe. You don't need to be scared.

Your alarm rings, and suddenly the day is here. Maybe you feel a little wobbly inside, a test at school, a friend who was grumpy yesterday, or just that sleepy feeling. That's normal.

But here's something good to know. Before you even put your shoes on, God is already awake. He is like the sun coming through your curtains, lighting up your room before you're even out of bed. He goes with you to school, sits next to you at lunch, and stands beside you on the playground. You are never walking into your day alone.

So when you feel a little scared or unsure, you can whisper, "God, You are my light." It's like holding His hand on the way out the door.

Your turn
Before you leave the house today, tell someone in your family "see you later" with a smile, and picture God waving you off too.

✦ Lunch moment

The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.

Proverbs 11:25 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When you share with others, good things come back to you too. Sharing makes everyone happy, even you.

Think about your lunch right now. Maybe you have crackers and your friend has none. Maybe you have the last cookie and someone is watching with hungry eyes. What do you do?

This little verse says something surprising. When you give something away, you do not end up with less inside. You end up fuller. Like watering a plant and somehow you get watered too. Sharing your snack, your seat, your turn on the swing, it fills you up in a way keeping it all never does.

Your turn
You will probably eat lunch with someone today, at home or at school. Give away one small thing, a snack, a seat, or a kind word, and notice how good that feels.

✩ Afternoon moment

He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all.

Mark 6:41 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus took a small lunch, thanked God for it, and shared it with thousands of hungry people. Everyone had enough.

Maybe you are eating a snack right now, after a long day at school. Just one small thing, like an apple or some crackers. It does not feel like much.

That is exactly how the boy in the story must have felt. He only had five little loaves and two small fish. Not enough for even one hungry family, let alone thousands of people sitting on the grass. But he gave it to Jesus anyway.

Jesus took that small lunch in His hands, looked up, and thanked God for it. Then He shared it out, and out, and out. Everyone ate until they were full. Jesus can do so much with the little things you give Him too.

Your turn
Share one snack or one small thing with someone in your family today.

☾ Evening moment

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When you stay close to God, you are safe, like sitting right under His wing.

Today was a school day, full of noise, math sums, running at recess, maybe a scraped knee or a hard spelling test. Now it is quiet. Your room is dim, your blanket is soft, and the day is finally done.

God was with you this whole day, even when you were too busy to notice. He watched you at your desk, on the playground, at dinner with your family. And now, as you lie down, He is still right here. You do not have to hold up the sky or fix anything tonight. You can just rest, like a bird tucked safely under its mother's wing.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing that happened today, big or small, and tell it to God.
