God Gives You Strength Today

Strength and kindness

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Philippians 4:13, Ephesians 4:32, 1 Samuel 16:7 and Isaiah 41:10.

☀ Morning moment

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus gives you the strength you need, for anything you have to do today.

Your shoes are on, your bag is by the door, and maybe your tummy feels a little jumpy. Is it a test today, or a tricky friend thing, or just getting out the door on time?

Whatever it is, you do not have to carry it alone. Jesus gives you strength, like He gives strength to a kid climbing the monkey bars for the first time, or reading out loud in class, or saying sorry to a friend. He is right there with you, in your backpack, in your shoes, in your busy morning.

Your turn
Before you leave the house, whisper one quick thank you to Jesus for one thing today, like your breakfast, your family, or the sun outside.

✦ Lunch moment

And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Be kind and gentle to each other. Forgive people, just like God forgave you.

Maybe someone bumped your tray at lunch today, or borrowed your pencil and never gave it back. Little things like that can make you grumpy fast, even before the afternoon has properly started.

God's word does not say wait until you feel like it. It says be kind anyway, be gentle anyway, forgive anyway, because that is exactly how God treats you. He does not wait for you to be perfect before He is kind to you.

Your turn
This afternoon, pick one person who bugged you today and do something kind for them anyway, like sharing a snack or holding the door.

✩ Afternoon moment

But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God does not care what you look like on the outside. He looks at what is inside your heart.

Maybe today someone got picked first for a game, or had the coolest backpack, and you wondered if you measured up. It happens to everyone, even grown ups feel it sometimes.

When God chose young David to be king, nobody in his family thought he mattered much. He was just the youngest, out with the sheep while his big brothers looked strong and important. But God was not looking at muscles or height. He was looking at David's heart, the part nobody else could see.

God looks at your heart too, right now, exactly as you are. He sees the kind things you do that nobody else notices.

Your turn
Tonight, tell someone in your family one kind thing you did today, even if nobody saw it happen.

☾ Evening moment

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 41:10 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God says do not be afraid, because He is right there with you. He will make you strong and hold you safe in His hand.

Tuesday was a busy day. Maybe you ran for the school bus, finished your homework, or played outside until the streetlights came on. Now the day is done, and your body is finally still under the blanket.

In the quiet dark, it is easy to think about worries, like a test tomorrow or a fight with a friend. But you are never alone in the dark. God is right beside your bed, holding you the way your hand holds a warm mug of milk. His hand never lets go, not even while you sleep.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing to God that happened today, good or hard.
