Be Still and Trust God

Stillness and Trust

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 46:10, Psalm 107:8, Genesis 37:3 and Psalm 4:4.

☀ Morning moment

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 46:10 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God says, stop for a second and remember, I am God. I am big and strong, everywhere on earth.

Your morning is loud. Shoes get lost, cereal spills, someone shouts that the bus is coming. You grab your backpack and run.

Right in the middle of all that rushing, God whispers something. Be still. Just for one second, before the door slams shut. He is not far away in some quiet church. He is right there in your kitchen, your hallway, your loud house. He fills the whole earth, and He fills your Wednesday too. You do not need to be brave all by yourself, because the biggest God there is walks out the door with you.

Your turn
Before you leave for school today, stand still for three seconds and whisper, God, You are with me today.

✦ Lunch moment

Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

Psalm 107:8 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: The Bible tells us to praise God because He is kind and does amazing things for people every day.

Right now you might be eating lunch, maybe a sandwich, maybe soup, maybe something your mom packed just for you. Have you ever stopped to think about how many little things go right in one single day? Someone made your food. Someone gave you a chair to sit on. Someone smiled at you this morning. Those are not nothing, they are gifts. God is behind all of it, quietly taking care of you like a good dad who never stops working. You don't always notice Him, but He is there in your lunch, your friends, your ordinary Wednesday. Today, before you take your next bite, say one quiet thank You to God for something small on your plate.

✩ Afternoon moment

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age, and he made him a tunic of many colors.

Genesis 37:3 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Joseph's dad loved him so much that he gave him a special colorful coat, more than he gave his brothers.

Maybe you know that feeling. Your brother gets picked first for the game. Your sister gets the bigger slice of cake. Someone else seems to get more attention, and it stings a little, right in your chest.

Joseph's brothers felt that sting too. Their dad loved Joseph so much, he gave him a fancy coat, and nobody gave them one. That is not a small thing. It made them so upset they could not even talk nicely to Joseph anymore.

God saw Joseph, and God saw his brothers too, every single one of them. Nobody is invisible to Him, even when it feels like someone else got the better coat.

Your turn
Tell someone at home about a time you felt left out, and let them listen.

☾ Evening moment

Stand in awe, and don’t sin. Search your own heart on your bed, and be still.

Psalm 4:4 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When you are lying in bed, you can talk quietly with God in your heart. You don't have to be loud or worried, just still.

Maybe today you ran across the playground, or finished your homework, or built something with blocks after dinner. Now the day is done, and your bed is waiting for you, soft and warm.

This is the moment to get quiet. You don't need loud words to talk to God. You can just lie still, breathe slowly, and let your heart talk to Him inside, like a quiet whisper only He can hear. He is not far away. He is right there in the dark with you, and He is not sleepy like you are.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing to God that happened today, something happy or something hard.
