God Rescues and Cares for You

God's care

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 118:5, Colossians 3:23, Genesis 45:4 and Psalm 23:5.

☀ Morning moment

Out of my distress, I called on Yah. Yah answered me with freedom.

Psalm 118:5 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When you feel worried or stuck, you can call out to God. He hears you and helps you feel free again.

The alarm goes off, and suddenly it is morning again. Maybe you smell toast, or hear your little brother arguing about socks. School is waiting, with spelling tests, or that one kid who is sometimes not so nice at break time.

Before any of that starts, you can do what this verse says. You can call out to God, right there under your blanket, or while you brush your teeth. You do not need special words. Just say, God, today feels big, help me. And He hears you, every single time, even with toothpaste in your mouth.

God does not want you to carry today all by yourself. He answers with room to breathe, like opening a window in a stuffy room. So today, whatever happens, you already know Someone is listening.

Your turn
Tell your mom or dad one thing you feel a little nervous about this morning.

✦ Lunch moment

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,

Colossians 3:23 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Whatever you are doing, do it with your whole heart, like you are doing it for God, not just for people.

Maybe this afternoon you have homework, or tidying your room, or helping set the table. Sometimes jobs feel boring, and you just want to rush through them to get back to playing.

But God says something surprising. He says you can do even small jobs with your whole heart, like you are doing them for Him. Not to show off, not because someone is watching, just because it makes Him glad when you try your best.

Your turn
Think of one thing you still have to do today, big or small, and do that one thing with your whole heart, all the way to the end.

✩ Afternoon moment

Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” They came near. He said, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.

Genesis 45:4 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Joseph's brothers had once been cruel to him. Now Joseph found them again and said, I am your brother, I am not angry anymore.

Think about a day at school when someone was not nice to you. Maybe they laughed at you, or left you out of a game. That feeling stays in your tummy for a while, doesn't it?

Joseph's brothers had done something much worse to him. They had sold him away. Years later, when Joseph saw them again, he could have shouted or turned his back. Instead he said, come close, I am your brother. He chose to forgive them, even though it was hard.

God helps us do hard things like that too, little by little. You do not have to feel brave about it straight away.

Your turn
Today, think of one person who was unkind to you, and try to say one kind word to them, even a small one.

☾ Evening moment

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

Psalm 23:5 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God is like someone who sets a warm table just for you, fills your cup, and takes care of you.

Today was a full day. School, homework, maybe a game with friends, dinner at the table with your family. Your legs are tired now, and your eyes are getting heavy.

God is not tired though. Tonight He is still watching over you, like someone setting a warm table just for you, filling your cup so full it spills over. You do not have to worry about tomorrow. You do not have to fix anything right now. You can just rest, because God is taking care of you while you sleep.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thank you to God for something good from today.
