God keeps you safe and loved
Safe with God
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 63:7, Proverbs 17:9, Mark 2:3-5 and Psalm 121:6.
☀ The morning moment
For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
Psalm 63:7 (WEB)
In simple words: God has always helped me. I am safe and happy close to Him, like a little bird tucked under a big warm wing.
Have you ever seen a bird tuck her babies under her wing? They are warm, safe, and totally hidden. Nothing can bother them there.
Today is Tuesday. Maybe you have a spelling test, or football at break, or a friend you feel a little shy around. God says you can stay tucked close to Him all day long, like those little birds under a big soft wing. He has helped you before, and He will help you again.
So when you put on your shoes and grab your bag, remember: you are not walking out alone. God's wing is over you at school, on the playground, and all the way home.
✦ The lunch moment
He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends.
Proverbs 17:9 (WEB)
In simple words: If a friend does something wrong, forgive and move on. But if you keep bringing it up, it can break your friendship.
Imagine your friend spilled juice on your drawing this morning. Ouch. You could bring it up at lunch, and again on the bus, and again tomorrow. Every time, it stings a little more, for both of you.
Or you could let it go. Not because it didn't matter, but because your friend matters more. That's what this proverb means. Covering something means saying, 'It's okay, we're good,' and really meaning it.
This afternoon you might get another chance. Maybe someone bumps you, or forgets their turn, or says something silly. You get to choose: keep bringing it up, or let love win. Small choices like that build big, strong friendships.
✩ The afternoon moment
Four people came, carrying a paralytic to him. When they could not come near to him for the crowd, they removed the roof where he was. When they had broken it up, they let down the mat that the paralytic was lying on. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
Mark 2:3-5 (WEB)
In simple words: Four friends carried their sick friend to Jesus. The house was too full, so they dug through the roof and lowered him down. Jesus saw their faith and helped him.
Picture it. A house so packed with people that not one more person can squeeze in. Four friends are outside, carrying their sick friend on a mat. They really want him to meet Jesus.
So they do something wild. They climb up onto the roof. They start pulling it apart, piece by piece, until there is a big hole. Then they lower their friend down with ropes, right in front of Jesus. Can you imagine the dust falling on everyone's heads?
Jesus looks up and smiles. He sees how much these friends care. Today, after school, think about the friends who help you. And think about how you could carry someone to Jesus in your prayers tonight.
☾ The evening moment
The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
Psalm 121:6 (WEB)
In simple words: God watches over you all the time, when the sun shines in the day and when the moon glows at night.
Look out the window tonight. Maybe you can see the moon peeking through the clouds, or maybe the sky is dark and quiet. Either way, God is awake. He does not need sleep like you do.
Today was a Tuesday. Maybe school was busy, or maybe something small made you sad. Now your pillow is soft under your head, and your day is finished. You can let it go. You do not have to hold onto anything.
God is watching over you in the day when the sun is bright, and He is watching over you at night when the moon is out. Your room may feel dark, but you are never alone. He is right here.
