A Happy Heart Every Day

Happy Hearts

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Proverbs 15:15, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, 1 Samuel 17:40 and Psalm 139:13.

☀ Morning moment

All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.

Proverbs 15:15 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When you feel sad, everything feels hard. But a happy heart makes every day feel like a party.

Saturday morning smells like pancakes and feels like no rush. You can stay in your pajamas a little longer, and nobody is calling you to hurry up. That is a gift.

Some mornings you wake up grumpy, maybe your brother took the last cereal, or you stubbed your toe on the stairs. But a happy heart is not about everything going perfectly. It is a choice you can make, even in small things. You can choose to smile at breakfast, or laugh at something silly, or hug someone before the day even starts.

God made you able to feel joy, not because life is always easy, but because He fills your heart with little sparks of happiness, like sunshine through a window. Today can be a feast, not because of what you eat, but because of how you carry your heart.

Your turn
Today, tell someone at home one thing that made you smile this morning.

✦ Lunch moment

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God wants you to say thank you for everything, big or small, because that makes Him happy.

Saturday lunch smells so good, doesn't it? Maybe there is bread, or soup, or your favorite sandwich right in front of you. It is easy to just eat and think about what fun thing comes next this afternoon. But this verse says something simple: say thank you, for everything. Not just for big things like a birthday present, but for small things too. The sunshine outside. The chair you are sitting on. The person next to you who passed the salt. God loves it when you notice the little things and say thanks for them, because it makes your heart happy too. Thankful people are usually the most cheerful ones around the table. Right now, before you take another bite, tell someone at your table one small thing you are thankful for today.

✩ Afternoon moment

He took his staff in his hand, and chose for himself five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag which he had. His sling was in his hand; and he came near to the Philistine.

1 Samuel 17:40 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: David picked five smooth stones from the stream and put them in his bag. He was getting ready to face a giant.

Have you ever picked up a stone by a stream, just to feel how smooth and cool it is? David did that too, right before the biggest fight of his life. He did not grab a sword or heavy armor. He just needed five little stones and his sling.

Everyone thought David was too small to fight the giant Goliath. But David already knew God was with him. He had chased off lions and bears to protect his sheep, and God had helped him then. So David picked up what he had, ordinary stones from the ground, and trusted God with everything else.

Your turn
This afternoon, find a small stone or object nearby, and tell someone at home how God can use even small things.

☾ Evening moment

For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:13 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God made you, piece by piece, even before you were born. He has always known and loved you.

Maybe today you rode your bike, built something with blocks, or just lay on the grass watching clouds go by. Saturdays are good for slow, easy things like that.

Now the sky is getting dark and it's almost time to sleep. Before you close your eyes, think about this: God knew you before anyone else did. He made your fingers, your laugh, the little curl in your hair, way back when you were still tiny inside your mom. He has never once looked away from you, not today, not any day.

Your turn
Tomorrow you'll get ready for church. Tonight, whisper thank you to God for one good thing that happened today.
