God's Goodness Fills Our Day
God's goodness
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Proverbs 10:22, Psalm 100:5, 1 Samuel 16:7 and Psalm 91:3.
☀ Morning moment
Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
Proverbs 10:22 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: When God blesses you, He gives good things and no sadness comes with them.
Saturday mornings feel different, don't they? No rushing, no backpack by the door. Maybe you can stay in your pajamas a little longer, or smell pancakes from the kitchen.
God loves giving good things on days like this too. A lazy morning, a game with your sister, a walk with the dog, these are gifts from Him, and they don't come with worry attached. God's gifts are simply good, all the way through.
Your turn
So stretch, smile, and notice one good thing already happening around you this morning. Tell someone in your family what that good thing is.
✦ Lunch moment
For Yahweh is good. His loving kindness endures forever, his faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100:5 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is good, and His love never runs out. He stays kind and faithful forever and ever.
Maybe today you are riding your bike, baking something yummy, or just lying on the couch doing nothing much. Saturdays can feel so free and easy, like a little breath of fresh air.
Did you know God is kind of like that, but even better? He never gets tired of being good to you. His love does not take a day off, not even on your laziest, most relaxed Saturday. While you rest, He is still holding everything together, still loving you, still faithful, just like yesterday and just like tomorrow.
Your turn
This afternoon, say thank you to God for one good thing that happened today, even something small like sunshine or a yummy snack.
✩ Afternoon moment
But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: People notice how you look on the outside, but God looks at what is really inside your heart.
Maybe today you put on your favorite shirt, or you didn't even bother to brush your hair because it's Saturday. It doesn't matter much to God. When Samuel was looking for a king, he thought the tallest, strongest brother would be perfect. But God chose David, the youngest one, still smelling like sheep from the field. God wasn't looking at muscles or height. He was looking at David's heart.
You don't have to be the fastest runner or have the coolest toys for God to notice you. He already sees you, right now, exactly as you are today. Messy hair, quiet mood, loud laugh, it's all fine with Him.
Your turn
Tell someone in your family one kind thing you noticed about their heart today.
☾ Evening moment
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.
Psalm 91:3 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God keeps you safe, just like a bird that is saved from a trap. Nothing can catch you when God is watching.
Was today a good day? Maybe you rode your bike, baked cookies with mom, or just lay on the couch doing nothing much. Saturdays are like that, full of little moments.
Now the day is over, and your bed is waiting. Your eyes feel heavy. Think of a bird sitting safe in its nest, tucked away from every trap and every danger. That is how safe you are tonight. God is watching over you, closer than the blanket on your bed.
You don't have to stay awake to keep yourself safe. You can just close your eyes. God never gets tired, never looks away, never forgets you for one second.
Your turn
Before you fall asleep, whisper one quiet thank you to God for something good from today.
