Jesus Gives Us Strength and Love

Strength and Love

7 days ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Philippians 4:13, Proverbs 15:17, Mark 10:49 and Psalm 139:17.

☀ Morning moment

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus gives you strength for everything you need to do, even the hard things.

Maybe this morning you feel a bit wobbly. A spelling test, a tricky friend problem, or just getting your shoes on the right feet in time. Big feelings can happen before breakfast is even finished.

Here is something good to know. You are not doing today alone. Jesus is right there with you, like a strong hand holding yours when you cross a busy street. He gives you strength for the small things and the big things, the maths page and the moment you feel shy at school.

You do not need to feel brave all by yourself. His strength fits right into your day, into your backpack, into your pocket.

Your turn
Before you leave the house, whisper one thing to Jesus that feels hard today, and ask Him to help you with it.

✦ Lunch moment

Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.

Proverbs 15:17 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Even plain vegetable soup tastes great when people are kind to each other. A fancy dinner feels bad if people are mean.

Right now you might be sitting somewhere eating lunch, a sandwich, some rice, maybe just an apple. Look around you for a second. Who is sitting close to you?

Some days lunch is really plain food. But if the people around you are friendly and laughing, it feels like a party anyway. And the other way around, even the best food tastes boring if everyone is grumpy or unkind. That is what this Proverb is saying. Love makes everything better, even simple food.

Your turn
Today, share a little bit of your lunch with someone, or make space for someone to sit next to you who is on their own.

✩ Afternoon moment

Jesus stood still, and said, “Call him.” They called the blind man, saying to him, “Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you!”

Mark 10:49 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: A blind man called out to Jesus, and Jesus stopped walking just for him. His friends told him, do not be afraid, get up, Jesus wants you.

Maybe after school today you had to wait in a long line, or you stood at the edge of the playground while everyone else was busy. It is not fun to feel forgotten, even for a few minutes.

In this story, a big crowd was walking with Jesus. One blind man sat by the road, shouting. Most people told him to be quiet. But Jesus stopped. Right there, in the middle of all that noise, He stood still for one person. His friends ran to the man and said, do not worry, get up, He is calling you.

Jesus still notices the ones who feel small or left out. You can be the one who tells a friend, do not worry, you matter, come join us.

Your turn
Today, invite someone who is sitting alone to play or sit with you.

☾ Evening moment

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum!

Psalm 139:17 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God thinks about you all the time. His thoughts about you are kind and more than you could ever count.

Today is done. School is done, homework is done, dinner is done. Your room is quiet now, and your pillow is soft under your head.

Before you close your eyes, think about this. God has been thinking about you all day long, even when you were not thinking about Him. Not just one little thought, but so many thoughts that nobody could ever count them all. Like counting every star, or every grain of sand on a beach. That many thoughts, and every one of them is kind.

You do not have to do anything to make God think of you. He already does, right now, while you lie here. You can just rest in that.

Your turn
Before you fall asleep tonight, whisper one quiet thank you to God for something good from today.
