Thankful Hearts and Gentle Love

Thankful hearts

2 weeks ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 100:4, Psalm 122:9, Mark 10:13 and Psalm 139:11.

☀ Morning moment

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, and bless his name.

Psalm 100:4 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: When you come to God's house, walk in with a happy heart. Say thank You to God and praise His name.

Today is Sunday, the day to gather with others and sing to God. Maybe you put on your favorite shirt, maybe you hold mom's hand walking into church, maybe you wave at a friend across the room. All of that can be a way of saying thank You to God.

You do not need special words. You can just tell God what you are glad about, like a good breakfast, or a song you like, or grandma sitting next to you. God loves it when you come to Him with a happy heart, not a worried one.

Think of church like walking into a big, warm room where you are wanted. God opens the gate for you every single Sunday. You belong there.

Your turn
Before you leave for church, tell God one thing you are thankful for this morning.

✦ Lunch moment

For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God, I will seek your good.

Psalm 122:9 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Because we belong to God's family, we want good things for each other, like church friends do.

Today is Sunday, a day for church, for singing, for sitting together with people who love God. Maybe you saw someone at church this morning. Maybe you shared a hymn book or sat next to your grandma.

That is exactly what this verse is about. We want good things for each other, not because we have to, but because we belong together. Like when your friend forgot her Bible and you shared yours. Small things like that make a church feel warm and full of love.

Your turn
This afternoon, think of one person from church and do something kind for them, like drawing a picture for them or saying something nice about their smile.

✩ Afternoon moment

They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.

Mark 10:13 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Parents brought their children to Jesus so He could bless them, but His friends tried to send them away.

Maybe today you sat in church between mom and dad, swinging your legs while the grown-ups talked. Sometimes it feels like the important things are only for big people, and kids just wait quietly at the side.

But look what happened to Jesus. His friends thought children were in the way. They tried to stop them from coming close. Jesus did not agree at all. He wanted the children right there, near Him, not pushed to the back.

That has not changed. When you sing, pray, or just sit still in church today, Jesus is not looking past you to the grown-ups. He is looking straight at you.

Your turn
Today, tell someone at home one thing you liked about being together at church.

☾ Evening moment

If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me. The light around me will be night,”

Psalm 139:11 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Even when it gets dark and you can't see anything, God can still see you perfectly.

The lights are turning off around the house now. Maybe you can hear the last church bells from this morning still echoing somewhere in your memory, all those voices singing together. The day is folding up like a blanket.

Darkness can feel a little strange when you are small and everything goes quiet. But darkness is never dark to God. He does not need a nightlight to find you. He already knows exactly where you are, tucked under your blanket, breathing slow.

Your turn
Today you sang, or listened, or sat quietly in church with your family. That was a good thing to bring to God. Now close your eyes and simply say thank You to God for this whole Sunday.
