God Knows You and Keeps You Safe

God's loving care

5 days ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 139:1, Matthew 5:9, Matthew 14:29 and Psalm 91:7.

☀ Morning moment

Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me.

Psalm 139:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God knows you completely, even before you say good morning to anyone.

Your alarm beeps and for one second you forget what day it is. Then you remember, school, backpack, maybe a spelling test. Before your feet even hit the floor, God already knows exactly how you feel this morning.

He knows if you are excited to see your friends at recess. He knows if you are a little nervous about something, like reading out loud or a tricky math page. You do not have to explain anything to Him first. He already sees you, just as you are, hair messy and all.

That is a good thing to carry with you today. You are not walking into school alone, even when mom or dad waves goodbye at the door. God goes with you, from the bus stop to the lunch table.

Your turn
Before you leave the house today, whisper a quick good morning to God.

✦ Lunch moment

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

Matthew 5:9 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus says it's a wonderful thing when you help people stop fighting and make peace instead.

Maybe at lunch today two friends are arguing about who sits where, or who gets the last cookie. You know that feeling, right? It can get loud fast.

Jesus says something surprising. He does not say blessed are the ones who win the argument. He says blessed are the peacemakers. That is someone who steps in and helps things get calm again, even in small ways. Saying sorry first. Sharing the last cookie. Just saying, let's not fight about this.

You do not need superpowers for that. You just need a little courage and a kind heart, and God gives you both.

Your turn
Today, if you see two people arguing, try to help make peace instead of picking a side.

✩ Afternoon moment

He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.

Matthew 14:29 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus said, "Come!" So Peter climbed out of the boat and walked on top of the water toward Him.

Maybe today you had a moment like that. Raising your hand for a hard question. Walking into a new classroom. Trying the big slide even though your legs felt wobbly. Your heart beats fast right before you do the brave thing.

Peter felt that too. The waves were huge and the wind was loud, but Jesus said, "Come!" So Peter actually stepped out of the boat. For a little while he was walking on the water, right toward Jesus. Then he looked at the wind instead of Jesus, and he started to sink. Jesus caught him straight away. He did not let him go under.

Jesus is not surprised when you feel scared. He still says "Come" to you too.

Your turn
Tell someone at home about one brave thing you did today, even a small one.

☾ Evening moment

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you.

Psalm 91:7 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Even when scary things happen close by, God keeps you safe, like a strong wall around you.

The lights are off now, and your room is quiet. Maybe you can still hear the dishwasher running, or a car driving by outside. School is done for today, your bag is by the door, and tomorrow is still far away.

This is the moment when some kids start to worry. About monsters under the bed, or tests, or things that happened at recess. But God is not far away in the dark. He is right beside you, like a strong wall that nothing scary can get through. You can fall asleep leaning against Him.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing to God that happened today, good or hard, and tell Him goodnight.
