God's Joy and Help Each Day
God's Joy
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 16:11, Matthew 25:40, Daniel 6:23 and Psalm 121:2.
☀ Morning moment
You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.
Psalm 16:11 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God shows you the best way to live. When you are close to Him, you find real joy, every single day.
Right now you are pulling on your socks, maybe grumpy, maybe excited. Either way, God is already walking next to you. He knows about the math test, the friend you sat with yesterday, the cereal you love.
God's path is not boring. It is full of little good things. A funny joke at breakfast, sunlight through the window, someone saving you a seat on the bus. God put joy into ordinary mornings like this one.
Your turn
Before you grab your backpack, whisper one quiet thank you to God for something small you see right now.
✦ Lunch moment
“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Matthew 25:40 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Jesus says that when you are kind to someone small or forgotten, it is like being kind to Him.
Look around the lunch table today. Is someone sitting alone? Did someone forget their snack, or drop their tray? It is easy to miss these little things when you are busy eating and talking with your friends.
Jesus says something surprising. When you help someone small, someone easy to forget, it is like helping Him. You do not need a big plan. Sharing your sandwich, moving your chair, or just saying hello can mean more than you think.
Your turn
During lunch today, share something or sit next to someone who looks alone.
✩ Afternoon moment
Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
Daniel 6:23 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: The king was so happy when Daniel came out of the lion's den without a scratch, because Daniel had trusted God.
Did you ever have a day where everything felt scary, like walking into a new classroom or facing someone who was mean to you? Daniel had a day like that, but way bigger. He got thrown into a den full of hungry lions, just for praying to God.
All night the king couldn't sleep. He kept wondering what happened to Daniel. In the morning he ran to the den and shouted Daniel's name. And Daniel answered back, safe and sound, not even one scratch on him.
God was right there in the dark with Daniel, the whole night. You are never alone either, not at school, not in your bed, not anywhere.
Your turn
Tonight, tell someone at home about Daniel and the lions, in your own words.
☾ Evening moment
My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:2 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God helps you. He made the whole sky and the whole earth, so He is strong enough to take care of you too.
Today was a school day. Maybe you had a test, or maybe you ran around at recess until your legs were tired. Now the day is over, and your bed is waiting, soft and warm.
Did you know the same God who hung the moon up in the sky is the one watching over your room tonight? He made the mountains and the oceans, and He is big enough to take care of something as small as you falling asleep. You do not have to hold the night together yourself. You can just lie down.
Your turn
Close your eyes and think of one good thing from today, maybe a joke a friend told you, or a hug from mom. Whisper a quiet thank you for it before you fall asleep.
