Sing and Rest in God's Love

Joyful Praise

7 days ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 98:4, Psalm 147:1, 1 Samuel 16:12 and Psalm 127:2.

☀ Morning moment

Make a joyful noise to Yahweh, all the earth! Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!

Psalm 98:4 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God wants the whole earth to shout and sing happy songs to Him. Even you can sing loud today.

Today is Sunday, a day to sing. Maybe you are putting on your shoes to go to church, or maybe your family is still in pajamas with pancakes on the table. Either way, this is a day to make noise for God, not quiet grumpy noise, but happy noise.

Think about your favorite song, the one you hum in the shower or shout in the car. God loves hearing you sing, even if you forget the words or sing too loud. He is not checking if you sound perfect. He just loves that it is you singing.

Your turn
Sing one line of your favorite song out loud today, right now, as loud as you want.

✦ Lunch moment

Praise Yah, for it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant and fitting to praise him.

Psalm 147:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: The Bible says it is good and happy to sing songs of praise to God.

Maybe this morning you sang at church, loud or soft, with your family around you. That singing was not just noise, it was praise, and God loves to hear it.

You do not need a big voice or a perfect tune. You can hum while you eat your sandwich, or sing a song in your head while you play outside this afternoon. God likes it when you are glad about Him.

Sunday is a day to notice good things. Look around your table right now. What is one good thing you see or taste.

Your turn
Tell someone at the table one thing you are glad about today.

✩ Afternoon moment

He sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with a handsome face and good appearance. Yahweh said, “Arise! Anoint him, for this is he.”

1 Samuel 16:12 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: David was just a young shepherd boy, but God looked at him and said, this is the one I choose.

David was out with the sheep when his brothers were lined up to be picked as king. Nobody even called him in at first. He smelled like sheep, probably had messy hair, and was the youngest, the one people forget.

But God was not looking at David's clothes or his muscles. God looked at David's heart. And God said, this is the one.

Maybe sometimes you feel like the last one picked, or the one nobody notices first. God is not like that. He sees you fully, even the quiet parts nobody else sees.

Your turn
This afternoon, ask someone at home to tell you one good thing they see in you.

☾ Evening moment

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

Psalm 127:2 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God does not want you to worry all day long. He loves to give you sleep, like a gift, because He loves you so much.

Today was Sunday. Maybe you sang songs at church, or sat close to mom or dad, or ate a slow lunch with your family. Now your eyes feel heavy and your blanket feels warm.

Did you know sleep is a gift? You do not have to earn it or work for it. God just gives it to you, like He hands you a soft pillow every single night. While you dream, He is still awake, still watching, still loving you.

You do not need to fix anything before you close your eyes. You do not need to plan tomorrow right now. You can simply rest, because Someone bigger than you is holding everything together tonight.

Your turn
Before you fall asleep, whisper one quiet thank you to God for something good from today.
