God Hears You Every Day
God hears us
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 5:3, Psalm 106:1, 1 Samuel 3:10 and Psalm 139:3.
☀ Morning moment
Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.
Psalm 5:3 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Every morning you can talk to God and tell Him what you need. Then you can watch to see what He will do.
You rub your eyes open, pull on your socks, and smell toast downstairs. The day is just starting, your backpack is waiting by the door, and maybe your tummy feels a bit jumpy about a test or a friend. Before all of that, God is already awake and ready to listen.
You do not need big or fancy words. You can just say, good morning God, help me with my spelling test, or thank You that my friend sits next to me. He hears you the same way your mom hears you calling from the kitchen.
And then, like watching for the school bus to turn the corner, you can watch for how God answers. Maybe through a kind word, a good idea, or just feeling braver.
Your turn
Before you leave for school today, whisper one short prayer to God about your day.
✦ Lunch moment
Praise Yahweh! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
Psalm 106:1 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: This verse says: thank God, because He is good, and His love never runs out.
Right now, in the middle of your busy day, you get a little break. Maybe you are eating a sandwich, or sitting with friends, or rushing to your next class. For one second, stop chewing and look around you.
God is good, this verse says. Not just sometimes, not just on easy days, but always. His love does not run out like your water bottle does. It just keeps going, even on a plain, ordinary Wednesday like today.
Your turn
So before you dive back into your afternoon, whisper a quick thank you to God. Pick one small thing, your lunch, a friend, the sun outside, and thank Him for it right now.
✩ Afternoon moment
Yahweh came, and stood, and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak; for your servant hears.”
1 Samuel 3:10 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God called little Samuel's name in the quiet night, and Samuel answered, I'm listening.
School is loud. Hallways, lunch lines, your friend's voice, the teacher's voice, all talking at once. Now it is afternoon, maybe a little quieter, and you finally have a second to breathe.
Samuel was just a boy, younger than some of you, sleeping in the temple at night. He heard his name called. Not shouted, not scary, just his name, gentle. He did not know it was God yet, but he said yes anyway. I'm listening, he said.
You will not hear a voice out loud today, probably. But maybe, in the quiet after school, something still, small, true pops into your head. A kind thought. A nudge to say sorry. A feeling that you are loved. That might be God too.
Your turn
Sit quietly for one minute right now, and just listen, without talking or looking at a screen.
☾ Evening moment
You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
Psalm 139:3 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God knows every step you take today, and He knows right now that you are getting ready to sleep. He knows you completely, and He loves you.
Think about your day today. You woke up, you ate breakfast, maybe you went to school, you played, you talked with friends. God was there for every single bit of it, even the parts nobody else saw.
And now, here you are, getting ready to lie down in your bed. God knows that too. He is not surprised by your bedtime. He has been watching over you since this morning, and He will keep watching while you sleep tonight.
Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing that happened today, good or small, and tell God about it.
