God is our safe high tower
Safe with God
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 59:17, Proverbs 27:19, Mark 2:14 and Psalm 139:7-8.
☀ Morning moment
To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.
Psalm 59:17 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: I want to sing to God because He makes me strong. He is like a tall safe tower, and He is so kind to me.
Do you smell breakfast yet? Saturday mornings are the best. No rushing, no lunchbox to pack. Maybe pancakes, maybe cereal in your pajamas.
David wrote this song a long time ago. He called God his strength and his high tower. Picture a tall castle tower where nothing can knock you over. That is what God is like for you today, whether you are building a fort, riding your bike, or helping dad in the garden.
And God is kind. Really kind. He gave you this whole free day to enjoy. You can sing to Him while you brush your teeth, or just whisper thank You when you see the sunshine on your bedroom floor.
✦ Lunch moment
Like water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.
Proverbs 27:19 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Just like you see your face in still water, what is inside your heart shows who you really are.
Have you ever looked into a puddle after the rain? You see your own face staring back at you. Water can be like a mirror when it is very still.
The Bible says your heart is like that too. What lives inside your heart shows on the outside. If your heart is full of joy, people notice. If your heart is grumpy, that shows too. Nobody can hide their heart for long.
Today is Saturday, a whole free day at home. Maybe you will play a game with your brother, or help set the table, or build something in the garden. Little moments show what is in your heart. Ask Jesus to fill your heart with kind things, and watch what shines out.
✩ Afternoon moment
As he passed by, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he arose and followed him.
Mark 2:14 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Jesus walked past Levi, who was collecting taxes. Jesus said, "Come with Me." Right away, Levi stood up and followed Jesus.
Imagine you are building a huge Lego city on the living room floor. It is Saturday, and you have finally found time for your big project. Then someone calls your name and says, "Come, we are going out right now!"
That is a bit like what happened to Levi. He was sitting at his work table, counting coins. Then Jesus walked by. Just four words: "Follow Me." And Levi stood up. He left his coins, his table, everything.
Jesus did not pick the coolest kid or the smartest one. He picked Levi, who nobody really liked. Jesus sees you too, right where you are. On the couch, in the garden, in your pajamas. He wants you close.
☾ Evening moment
Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there!
Psalm 139:7-8 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: There is no place where God is not. Wherever you go, He is already there, waiting for you with love.
Your Saturday is almost done. Maybe you played outside, watched a movie with your family, or helped make pancakes this morning. Now your pajamas are on and the day is folding itself up like a blanket.
Here is something amazing. Even in the dark of your room, God is right there. Under your bed, above your ceiling, next to your pillow. You cannot go anywhere where He is not already waiting for you.
Tomorrow is Sunday. A slow morning, maybe church, maybe games with people you love. But that is for later. Right now, you can breathe out. God is holding this night, and He is holding you. You are safe.
