God fills our days with joy

Joyful with God

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 16:11, Proverbs 17:5, Luke 5:19-20 and Psalm 139:18.

☀ Morning moment

You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.

Psalm 16:11 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God shows you the way to go. Being close to Him fills you up with joy that never runs out.

Monday morning. Your school bag is by the door, maybe your shoes are still under the couch, and the week is stretching out ahead of you like a long hallway with lots of doors.

David, who wrote this song, says God shows him the path. Not a map you have to figure out alone. More like a hand that guides you, step by step, into today. Math class, the bus, lunch, that kid you sit next to.

And here is the best part. Being near God is not boring or quiet like a waiting room. It is full of joy. Real joy. The kind that keeps bubbling up even on a Monday.

✦ Lunch moment

Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker. He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.

Proverbs 17:5 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: If you make fun of someone who has less, you are being mean to God who made them. And laughing when someone gets hurt is never okay.

Halfway through your Monday. How is it going so far? Maybe you had spelling, maybe math, maybe someone spilled their drink at snack time.

Here is something to notice this afternoon. Watch out for the moment when someone messes up or has less than you. Maybe a kid forgets their lunch. Maybe someone trips on the playground. It can feel funny for a second, and everyone laughs.

But God made that kid too. He loves them exactly as much as He loves you. So instead of laughing, you could be the one who helps. Pick up their pencil. Share half your sandwich. Say, are you okay? That small kindness makes God smile.

✩ Afternoon moment

Not finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his cot into the middle before Jesus. Seeing their faith, he said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”

Luke 5:19-20 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Four friends carried their sick friend to Jesus. The house was too crowded, so they climbed onto the roof and lowered him down inside!

Picture it. Four friends are carrying a man on a mat. They want to get him to Jesus, but the house is packed. People everywhere. No room to squeeze through.

So they do something wild. They climb up onto the roof, pull off the tiles, and lower their friend down on ropes! Can you imagine the dust falling on everyone's heads? Jesus looks up and smiles. He sees how much these friends care.

Sometimes at school, a friend has a hard day. Maybe they got left out at lunch, or they miss their mom. You cannot fix everything. But you can bring them close to Jesus, just by praying for them. That counts. Jesus notices when friends care like that.

☾ Evening moment

If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.

Psalm 139:18 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Even after a whole night of sleeping, when you open your eyes in the morning, God is still right there with you.

Your pillow is soft. The blanket is pulled up. Maybe your favorite stuffed animal is tucked in next to you. The day is almost done, and Monday can be tiring. School, homework, snacks, playing, sometimes a little arguing with your brother or sister.

Now it's quiet. And here's the amazing thing: while you sleep, God does not go away. He stays close. He watches over your room, your house, your bed. You don't have to do anything. You can just rest.

And tomorrow morning, when you open your eyes and rub the sleep away, He will still be right there. God stays with you all night long, and in the morning He is still your Friend.
