Praise God with a happy heart
Praising God
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 150:6, Psalm 107:1, Mark 10:13 and Psalm 91:2.
☀ Morning moment
Let everything that has breath praise Yah! Praise Yah!
Psalm 150:6 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Everyone who can breathe should praise God! If you can breathe in and out, you can praise Him!
Try it right now. Breathe in slowly. Breathe out slowly. Did you feel that? That little puff of air is a gift from God, and He gave you a fresh one this morning.
Today is Sunday, a special day to praise God together. Maybe you will sing in church with your family. Maybe you will hum a happy song while you pull on your socks. Maybe you will jump on the bed and shout, 'Thank You, God!' All of that counts.
You do not need to be a great singer. You do not need fancy words. If your lungs work, you have everything you need to praise Him. Every breath is a tiny thank You.
✦ Lunch moment
Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
Psalm 107:1 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Say thank You to God! He is good, and His love for you never ever stops.
Look at your plate for a second. Bread, fruit, maybe something warm, maybe something crunchy. All of it is a little gift.
Sunday is a good day to notice things like that. You are not rushing anywhere. Maybe you were at church this morning, maybe you sang a song, maybe you played a game with your family. God gave you all of it, even the sunshine coming through the window.
Saying thank You to God is not a big, serious thing. It can be as small as a smile inside your heart while you chew your sandwich. His love keeps going and going, longer than the longest song you know.
✩ Afternoon moment
They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.
Mark 10:13 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Parents wanted Jesus to bless their children. But His helpers tried to send them away, thinking Jesus was too busy.
Imagine you are one of those kids. Your mom is holding your hand tight and pulling you through a big crowd. You can hear people talking about Jesus up ahead. You really want to see Him.
Then suddenly, big grown-ups block the way. They say, 'Not now! Jesus is too important for little kids.' Your heart sinks. Maybe you feel small and pushed aside.
But Jesus heard them. And He was not too busy. Not then, not today. On this quiet Sunday, wherever you are, you can come close to Him. You do not need to be big or clever or loud. He wants you near, just as you are.
☾ Evening moment
I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91:2 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God is like a strong, safe hiding place. You can trust Him with everything, even the night.
Sundays have a special quiet feeling, don't they? Maybe you sang songs at church this morning, or played outside with family, or read a book on the couch. And now the day is winding down. Your pajamas are on. The lights are getting low.
Listen to what this psalm says. God is a refuge. That means a safe place to hide, like the coziest blanket fort you can imagine, but even better. He is a fortress. That means strong walls no scary thing can climb over.
You don't have to hold today all by yourself. You can hand it over to God, the good things and the tricky things. He is right here, watching over your room, watching over you. Rest now. You are safe.
