God heals and keeps you safe
God's loving care
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 147:3, Proverbs 11:25, 2 Kings 5:14 and Psalm 121:5.
☀ The morning moment
He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 (WEB)
In simple words: God is like a kind doctor for our hearts. When something hurts inside, He gently makes it better.
Have you ever scraped your knee at the playground? Mom or dad grabs a bandage, cleans it up, and soon you are running around again. Your knee gets better.
But sometimes it is not your knee that hurts. Maybe a friend said something mean yesterday. Maybe you felt left out at recess. Those bumps are on the inside, where nobody can see them.
God sees them. He knows exactly where it hurts, and He is really good at fixing hearts. As you pack your bag and head to school today, you can tell Him about any sore spot. He walks with you into class, and He is already working on the healing.
✦ The lunch moment
The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.
Proverbs 11:25 (WEB)
In simple words: If you are generous and help others, good things come back to you too. Kindness is like watering a plant, it grows.
Have you ever shared your snack with a friend at lunch? Maybe half of your sandwich, or one of your grapes. It feels good, right? Not just for your friend, but somehow for you too.
This old proverb says something funny. When you water someone else, you get watered as well. It is like sharing splashes back onto you. Being kind fills you up on the inside, even when you gave something away.
You can try it this afternoon. Maybe there is someone in your class who is a bit alone. Sit next to them. Ask how they are. Share a smile, share a pencil, share your time. See what happens in your own heart.
✩ The afternoon moment
Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
2 Kings 5:14 (WEB)
In simple words: Naaman washed in the river seven times, just like the prophet said. When he came up the last time, his skin was healthy again!
Imagine a strong army commander with a nasty skin sickness. His name was Naaman. He came all the way to Israel hoping to be healed, riding fancy horses and carrying bags of gold.
The prophet Elisha did not even come outside. He just sent a message: go wash in the Jordan River seven times. Naaman was angry! The Jordan was a muddy little river. He almost went home. But his servants said, please, just try it.
So he stepped in. One dip. Two. Three. Nothing. Four, five, six. Still sick. Then seven, and his skin was smooth like yours after a warm bath. Sometimes God works in ways that feel too simple. You do not need to figure everything out. You just need to trust and take the step.
☾ The evening moment
Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand.
Psalm 121:5 (WEB)
In simple words: God watches over you like a friend standing right next to you, keeping you safe from the hot sun and from harm.
Your Friday is almost done. Maybe it was a busy week at school, with tests, or running around the playground, or laughing with a friend at lunch. And now your head lies on the pillow.
Listen to what this little verse says. God is your keeper. That means He is looking after you, right now, in this room, in this bed. Like someone who stands close and does not walk away.
You do not have to keep guard tonight. You do not have to worry about tomorrow, or about anything you forgot today. God is awake while you sleep. He stays close all night long, and He will still be there when the morning light comes through your window.
