God's Loving Shield Around You

God's Loving Shield

Archive For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 5:12, Proverbs 15:4, 1 Samuel 17:37 and Numbers 6:24-26.

☀ Morning moment

For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield.

Psalm 5:12 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God blesses people who try to do what is right. He wraps them up safe, like a shield all around them.

Maybe today you have a test, or you are trying out for something, or you just have to walk into a noisy classroom. Your tummy might feel a little jumpy about it.

God sees you getting your shoes on, packing your bag, saying bye to mom or dad. He is not far away in the sky somewhere. He is right there with you, like a shield wrapped all around you, at your desk, on the playground, on the bus. Nothing can get past Him to hurt what really matters, your heart, your kindness, your friendship with Him.

Your turn
Before you walk out the door today, whisper a quick thank you to God for going with you.

✦ Lunch moment

A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 15:4 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Kind words help people grow strong and happy, like a tree gives good fruit. Mean words can make someone feel small inside.

Think about the words you have already said today. Maybe you told your friend a joke at breakfast, or maybe you grumbled at your brother for taking the last cracker. Words are strange things. They are small, but they can make someone's whole day feel warm, or make it feel cold.

This afternoon you will probably talk to lots of people. Classmates, a teacher, maybe someone at the shop with mom or dad. You get to choose what kind of words you hand out, like choosing what to share from your lunchbox.

Your turn
A gentle word is like sunshine for someone's heart. This afternoon, say one kind thing to someone you see, and really mean it.

✩ Afternoon moment

David said, “Yahweh who delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go! Yahweh will be with you.”

1 Samuel 17:37 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: David remembers that God helped him before with a lion and a bear. So he knows God will help him fight the giant too.

Maybe today something felt too big for you. A test that scared you, a kid who was mean, or a dark hallway at school that gave you the shivers. David felt small too. He was just a shepherd boy, and Goliath was a giant with a sword taller than David.

But David remembered something important. God had helped him before, with a lion and with a bear. So David thought, if God helped me then, He will help me now too. That is not magic. It is just remembering.

Your turn
Tonight, think of one time God or someone helped you when you were scared, and tell that story to someone at dinner.

☾ Evening moment

‘Yahweh bless you, and keep you. Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. Yahweh lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’

Numbers 6:24-26 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God wants to bless you, watch over you, and give you a peaceful heart tonight.

Your room is getting darker now. Maybe you hear the dishes being put away, or your dog settling down for the night. School is done, your bag is packed for tomorrow, and your body is tired.

Before you close your eyes, think of this. God is not tired. He is not going anywhere. His face is turned toward you, like a mom or dad leaning close to say goodnight one more time. He keeps you safe while you sleep, all night long, without needing a break.

Your turn
Before you turn off your light, whisper one quiet thank you to God for something good from today.
