Trust God with your whole heart
Trusting God
Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 28:7, Proverbs 3:5-6, John 9:7 and Psalm 16:8.
☀ Morning moment
Yahweh is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him.
Psalm 28:7 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: God makes me strong and keeps me safe. I trust Him, and He helps me. That makes my heart so happy that I want to sing.
Have you ever carried something heavy, like a backpack stuffed with books and a lunchbox and a water bottle? Your shoulders ache. Then someone walks beside you and takes one strap. Suddenly the walk feels easier.
That is a little picture of what today's verse says. God is strength for you. He is also a shield, like the big umbrella your family huddles under when the rain comes sideways. Spelling test, a crowded playground, a friend who was grumpy yesterday. You do not walk into any of it alone.
And look at the last line. The song. When you notice God helping, something bubbles up inside. You hum on your bike. You skip the last few steps to the door. God likes hearing that song from you.
✦ Lunch moment
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Trust God with your whole heart. You don't have to figure everything out alone. Tell Him about your day, and He will show you the way.
Halfway through Thursday. Your lunch is nearly finished, and a whole afternoon is still waiting for you.
Maybe there is something in that afternoon that feels wobbly. A spelling test. A game where nobody picked you last time. A friend who was grumpy this morning and you don't know why. And your own head does not always know the answer.
That is exactly why this verse is such good news. You are not the map reader here. God is. He knows the path through your afternoon, every corner of it. So you can tell Him quietly, even with your mouth full, even in the middle of the playground. Say, God, You know. Please walk with me. And then step into the afternoon, because He goes with you.
✩ Afternoon moment
and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.
John 9:7 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: Jesus told a blind man to go and wash in a pool. The man went, washed his face, and came back able to see.
Imagine walking home from school with your eyes shut tight. You would count steps, feel walls, listen hard. That was every single day for the man in this story. He had never seen the sky, or his mother's face, or a bird.
Then Jesus came near. He did something surprising. He made mud and put it on the man's eyes. Mud! Then He said, go and wash. The man could have said no thanks. Instead he walked to the pool, splashed water on His face, and suddenly light poured in. Colors. Faces. Everything.
Maybe you wonder why Jesus used mud. Nobody knows for sure. But the man took one small step, and Jesus did the big thing. Sometimes your one small step is enough for Him to work with.
☾ Evening moment
I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Psalm 16:8 (World English Bible (WEB))
In simple words: David says God is always right beside him, so close that nothing can push him over or knock him down.
Thursday is almost finished. Maybe your legs are tired from running around, or your head is still full of everything that happened today.
Think about walking somewhere while someone holds your hand. You do not have to read the map. You do not have to be brave all by yourself. You just walk, because someone bigger is right there next to you. That is what David wrote about God. God stays close, right beside your hand.
You cannot see Him with your eyes. But He is there when the light goes off. He is there all night while you sleep. And He is still there when the morning comes. Nothing can move Him away from you. Sleep well.
