God Lifts Us Up

God's caring love

1 weeks ago For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 40:2, Proverbs 27:9, Mark 4:39 and Psalm 23:3.

☀ Morning moment

He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.

Psalm 40:2 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God pulled me out of a sticky, muddy pit and put my feet on solid rock, so now I can stand strong.

Maybe your shoelaces are still untied, or your backpack feels heavy this morning. Maybe your tummy feels a little wobbly thinking about school, a test, or that one kid who is not always kind at recess.

God sees you standing there in the hallway, still half asleep. He is the One who takes your wobbly feet and sets them on a rock. Not a slippery, muddy spot, but something solid. That means when you walk into class today, you are not standing on shaky ground. You are standing on God, even if nobody else can see it.

Your turn
Before you walk out the door today, whisper a quick thank you to God for making your feet feel steady.

✦ Lunch moment

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; so does earnest counsel from a man’s friend.

Proverbs 27:9 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Nice smells make you happy, and so does a friend who gives you good advice.

Think about your favorite smell, maybe fresh bread, or the sea, or your mom's cooking. It just makes you feel good inside, right away. This proverb says a good friend feels like that too. Not because they smell nice, but because of what they say. A friend who tells you the truth kindly, who says "maybe don't do that" or "you can do this", is like a good smell for your heart. At school today, someone might give you advice you did not ask for. It can feel annoying at first. But if it comes from someone who really likes you, it might be exactly the oil your heart needs. Today, on the way home or at lunch, think of one friend who has helped you with good advice, and tell them thank you for it.

✩ Afternoon moment

He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Mark 4:39 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Jesus woke up in the middle of a scary storm and told the wind and waves to stop. And they did, right away.

Maybe today felt like a storm inside you. A hard test, a fight with a friend, or just too much noise after a long week at school. Your heart can feel like waves crashing, going up and down.

The friends of Jesus were in a real storm on the lake. They were sure the boat would sink. But Jesus stood up, said only two words, and the wind just stopped. The water went flat and calm, like glass.

Jesus is not scared of your storm either. He is right there in your boat, even when things feel wild. You can talk to Him about what is loud in your heart right now.

Your turn
Close your eyes for ten seconds and whisper to Jesus one thing that feels stormy today.

☾ Evening moment

He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Psalm 23:3 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: God helps you feel calm and rested inside. He shows you the right way to go, like a good friend walking beside you.

Think about your bed right now, soft and warm, waiting for you. Maybe your favorite blanket is already there, or a stuffed animal that always sleeps next to your pillow. Your body is tired from the whole day, running, learning, playing, maybe even a little bit of arguing with your brother or sister.

God sees all of that. He is not far away in the sky somewhere. He is close, like someone sitting quietly by your bed. He takes your tired heart and makes it calm again, the way mom smooths a wrinkled blanket flat. You do not have to fix anything before you sleep. You do not have to be perfect. God just wants you resting safely in His care tonight.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one thing to God that happened today, good or hard, and thank Him for staying close to you.
