God Is Always Near You

God's presence

Today For children 4 Bible verses

Four short Bible moments for children, based on Psalm 16:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, 1 Samuel 3:4 and Psalm 127:1.

☀ Morning moment

I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Psalm 16:8 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: I keep God close in my thoughts all the time. Because He is right beside me, I will not fall.

You rub your eyes awake, and the day is already waiting for you. Shoes to find, breakfast to eat, a bag to grab before you run out the door. It can feel like a lot, all before school even starts.

But here is something good to carry with you. God is right beside you, like a friend walking next to you on the way to school. You do not see Him, but He is there when you answer a hard question in class, when you sit with a friend at lunch, when you play tag at recess. He keeps you steady, like a hand holding yours so you do not trip.

Your turn
Before you leave the house today, whisper a quick thank you to God for being with you.

✦ Lunch moment

Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: Paul says: cheer each other up and help each other grow, just like you already do.

Right now, at lunch, you are sitting with people around you. Maybe at the school table, maybe at home with your family. Have you noticed how one kind word can change how someone feels?

A friend drops their tray, or gets a wrong answer in class, or just looks a little sad today. You could laugh, or you could say something that helps. Paul says build each other up, like stacking blocks that make something stronger, not knocking them down.

Your turn
You don't need big words. 'Nice try', 'you can sit with us', or just a smile can be enough. Today, say one encouraging thing to someone near you at lunch.

✩ Afternoon moment

Yahweh called Samuel. He said, “Here I am.”

1 Samuel 3:4 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: One night, God called Samuel's name. Samuel did not know it was God, so he jumped up and said, "Here I am!"

Maybe today someone called your name from another room, and you shouted back without even thinking. That is what Samuel did one night, but it was not his mom or dad calling. It was God.

Samuel was just a boy, sleeping in the temple where he helped old Eli. God called his name three times before Samuel understood who it really was. He was not scared once he knew. He just said, "Here I am, I'm listening."

Your turn
You don't have to hear a voice at night to listen to God. Tonight, before you fall asleep, lie still for one minute and just say quietly, "I'm listening."

☾ Evening moment

Unless Yahweh builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.

Psalm 127:1 (World English Bible (WEB))

In simple words: If God doesn't help, people work hard for nothing. But when God watches over a home, even the night guard can finally rest.

It was a Monday, school, homework, maybe a little bit of play after dinner. Now the lights are going off one by one in your house, and the day is folding up like a blanket.

Think about a night watchman standing by a gate, trying so hard to stay awake. He gets tired. His eyes get heavy. But God never gets tired like that. He does not need to rest, He simply watches, all night long, over your street, your room, your bed.

So you do not have to guard anything tonight. You can let your hands go soft and your breathing go slow, because Someone bigger is already awake, watching over you.

Your turn
Before you close your eyes, whisper one quiet thank you to God for this day.
